It’s Friday, So Here’s A Panda Wrestling Match

Written by Brandon Stroud / 03.29.13

Would you like to watch a video of a big panda wrestling around with a little one? If I told you that the big panda pulls off a sweet German suplex (pictured, right) would you want to watch it more?

I ran the YouTube description through Google Translate, and this is what it gave me:

March 11, 2013. Beach has excellent outdoor debut.
Good beaches to chase the excellent beach.

I don’t speak Chinese, but I’m gonna guess the words for “panda” and “beach” are pretty similar. Panda has excellent outdoor debut! Good pandas to chase the excellent panda. That makes more sense, right? Because that big panda is good, but the baby panda is excellent. He also need to watch out for the big panda’s sick gutwrench.

Behold, The Yao Ming Golf Swing

Written by Brandon Stroud / 10.23.12

Yao Ming Golf Swing“Yao Ming being adorable” is up near the top of the things With Leather loves most, somewhere between Phillie Phanatic human interest stories and Kate Upton outtakes. And while nothing could ever replace Yao Ming holding a panda in our hearts, the Yao Ming golf swing is coming awfully close.

Everything about it is beautiful. The swing itself. The way he just stares at the ball after he misses it, then holds his hand out like he can’t believe what the ball just did. The plainly-stated YouTube description, with an explanation for what’s happening:

Yao starts a new career in golf in his retirement. He is so tall and it is a little hard for him to play well in golf.

The helpful advice from the 30,000 people in his on-course entourage. His sad little blooper shot when he finally makes contact. It’s the first golf video I’ve ever wanted to hug.

I hope his friend’s advice was, “try playing a sport where the ball isn’t so close to the ground”.

Update: Kids MMA Can Be Adorable

Written by Brandon Stroud / 09.27.12

Dan HardySo far, our exposure to kids MMA has been pretty horrifying. It’s either Armenian businessmen organizing child shootfights in bars or daycare workers lining kids up and making them hit each other on video, and that doesn’t leave a lot of room for happiness and compassion. That may have all changed thanks to this video of Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy waving a kid over and letting him throw knee strikes at pads and punch him in the face. It is adorable.

From Maggie Hendricks at Cagewriter:

While training for his bout with UFC on Fuel 5 with Amir Sadollah, Dan Hardy tried working with a new partner. This one brought speed and heart, but did have to ask his mom before he worked out with Hardy.

I’m glad someone finally found the right way to introduce mixed martial arts to children: introduce it as a fun, healthy activity they can get into now and be great at when they grow up. That seems a lot better than “put a kid in flame shorts and let him punch a crying baby while we laugh and smoke cigars”.

You’re pretty awesome, Dan Hardy.

Your Weekly Dose Of Racing Awwwww

Written by Ashley Burns / 05.06.11

Leave it to the Swedes to not only make affordable dorm room and bachelor pad furniture, but it seems they’ve also invented the most adorable form of animal competition not called the Puppy Bowl. Known as Kaninhop, this Swedish sensation involves bunny rabbits show-jumping as if they were miniature fluffy horses with big, floppy ears.

But the bunny in the box, Daily Mail

Over the past few decades to sport has spread far from its Scandinavian homeland and clubs have now sprung up in several other European countries, the U.S., Canada and even Japan.

Rules vary from country to country, but generally the more jumps a rabbit clears the higher its score. There is also sometimes a time element to competitions.

You also lose points if your rabbit starts a bunny orgy in the middle of the course, but you gain points for how many female rabbits your male impregnates. It’s pretty complex. I just wish we had a video of bunnies competing in Kaninhop set to Joe Esposito’s “You’re the Best”…
