Adam Scott Hates Adam Scott

Written by Brandon Stroud / 04.16.13

Adam Scott hates Adam Scott Conan

Are we havin’ fun yet?

If you don’t follow golf, Australian golfer Adam Scott won The Masters after a clutch playoff putt and is now the protagonist of one of the greatest sports photos ever. If you don’t follow NBC comedy, Adam Scott (no relation) is one of the stars of the best — or, at least, the nicest — shows on television, ‘Parks and Recreation.’ You may also remember him from ‘Party Down,’ or from his run as the Fonzie of ‘Boy Meets World.’

They are not the same dude, but what the Internet presupposes is, maybe they are?

Adam Scott The Actor went on ‘Conan’ last night to clear up the confusion. Video is after the jump.

This Picture Of Adam Scott At The Masters Is Awesome, But Let’s Make It Better

Written by Ashley Burns / 04.15.13

Adam Scott winning the Masters with an incredible putt in an intense playoff was great for several reasons:

  1. He’s the first Australian to ever win the Masters, so his green jacket is a massive relief to golf fans in Britain’s former penal colony*.
  2. Whenever he wins, people incorrectly Tweet at actor Adam Scott, and that must be funny, because he’s all, “Why are people Tweeting at me about golf? Oh, because we have the same name.” It’s like when someone named Ashley Burns won on Wheel of Fortune and my ex-wives were like, “HALF!” Suckers.
  3. Because I could have potentially won several hundred pieces of paper had Angel Cabrera won, and I need to be reminded that gambling is wrong. You know, if I had been gambling, which I wasn’t.
  4. Tiger Woods not winning means we weren’t buried in an avalanche of “Tiger should have withdrawn!” columns from contrarian sports writers who weren’t at Augusta and wouldn’t even write about golf if it weren’t for Tiger.
  5. That picture above.

Man, that photo of Scott taking in the moment is the cat’s pajamas, as my grandfather would have said in a strip club. But Scott deserves better in his big moment, so I decided to fancy up his glorious photo a little with the help of some photoshop. I bet you can’t even tell that I made changes.

Sports On TV: Boy Meets World’s 20 Greatest Sports Moments

Written by Brandon Stroud / 11.21.12

Boy Meets World Sports

This week’s Sports On TV covers another show people have been requesting since the column’s inception: ‘Boy Meets World,’ the long-running TGIF staple that asked, “if Fred Savage can have a successful television show, shouldn’t his little brother have one as well?”

‘Boy Meets World’ ran for seven seasons from 1993 to 2000 on ABC, and now’s a better time than ever to look back on the show’s 158 episodes. Why? Take it away, Wikipedia!

n November 2012 it was reported that Disney Channel is in the early stages of development of a follow-up series titled ‘Girl Meets World,’ which will center around Cory and Topanga’s 13-year-old daughter. Boy Meets World co-creator Michael Jacobs will develop the series and serve as its executive producer and showrunner. It is yet unknown if any of the original actors will return if the series gets a pilot order or is greenlit as a series, although Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are in talks to reprise their characters.

If that news excites you or a 12-year old in your household, you’re going to love this column. If you’ve never seen ‘Boy Meets World’ and don’t know what it has to do with sports, what’re you, new? Here’s a sneak preview of what’s inside: Olympic athletes, WWF wrestlers, at least six dozen people you’ll recognize from currently-popular TV shows and at least one insane, weird man dressed as Lance Armstrong. Enjoy.

All Star Bowling Trick Shots, The Most UPROXX Video Of All Time

Written by Brandon Stroud / 11.08.12

All Star Bowling Trick Shots

This video showed up on our tip line a few minutes ago, with the subject, “the most uproxx video i’ve seen”. I don’t think it’s even a contest.

‘All Star Bowling Trick Shots’ combines everything UPROXX loves: Funny Or Die videos, trick shot videos, celebrities doing weird stuff (like Craig Robinson dunking, or John Goodamn, or all intents and purposes the most bowling-related celebrity in the video, passing a bowling ball with a trampoline), Aubrey Plaza, kinda-crummy hip hop music … all it needs is for someone to turn it into an animate GIF gallery with subtitles and it’s our jobs in a nutshell. Oh, and Kate Upton should be there. And corgis.

Anyway, there’s nothing I can say about this video that isn’t trumped by watching it, so check it out below. Oh, I can say one thing: You are awesome, ‘Home Improvement’s’ Richard Karn, and you should be in everything. There. That felt good.

We Like To Think It Happened Like This: Tiger Woods Took The High Road To Victory

Written by Ashley Burns / 11.22.11

Deal with it.

The 2011 Presidents Cup came and went without much fanfare, mainly because the U.S. rules while the rest of the world drools. To be fair, that’s the rest of the world without Europe, because the motherland’s best golfers save their efforts for the Ryder Cup, at which the U.S. does the bulk of the sucking. But this weekend’s win improved the American team’s record at the Presidents Cup to 7-1-1, and the hubbub surrounding this year’s W is all about Tiger Woods.

First off, U.S. captain Fred Couples received a lot criticism for choosing Woods over PGA champion Keegan Bradley. Couples, though, reminded everyone that Woods will always be the best golfer in the world to him, so he was banking on that guy showing up. And though Woods accounted for just 2 of America’s 19 points, he did give the best performance of the event in his singles match on Sunday, so of course Couples is doing a little air humping.

Scott’s Long Putter Is A War Crime

Written by JOSH Z / 04.11.11

If you didn’t listen to my appearance on Dan Levy’s podcast this morning then you haven’t heard my totally awesome and not-over-the-top-at-all take on Adam Scott’s long putter, which he uses with an overhand grip while bracing the end of the shaft up against his chest (ah, that takes me back). And my opinion on the Aussie’s unconventional club is pretty simple: that putter is a war crime and should be banned.

I’ve seen lots of older players use the longer putters that brace against the belly or chest while swung, and if you’re an older guy that can’t really bend over the ball as you could have in days of yore, that’s understandable. I GUESS I could even be sympathetic to a Champions Tour player looking to eke another year or two out of his career. But Scott is 31, with a presumably healthy back, and that pool cleaner he keeps in his bag has no place on the PGA Tour.

For that putter to be legal in a major tournament, or any professional tournament at all, is a joke. Maybe Scott could also use a hockey stick, croquet mallet, or an old lead pipe out of the groundskeeper’s shed. Buy a real putter, Adam. Use it. Live it. And maybe then you’ll have a major championship from which your fans can take pride. Putting with Helen Keller’s walking stick won’t do.
