Tonight, on a very special Old School Raw open discussion thread:
WWE Universe, get ready to step back in time when Raw goes “Old School” tonight at 8/7 CT on USA Network. Here are five reasons you don’t want to miss this very special edition of Raw that has not been done since 2010. (via ” target=”_blank”>WWE.com)
Our five-point preview:
1. If you’d like to read the Best and Worst of the first Old School Raw, you can read that in the AOL FanHouse archives. It’s fun to see how the column has grown since then. I can’t remember being able to make people happy with one page and 10 paragraphs of jokes.
2. The highlight of tonight’s show should be The Shield beating the orange out of Randy Orton. Similarly, the worst moment of tonight’s show will be Randy Orton beating up The Shield by himself, and/or doing that rope DDT to all three of them at once, somehow. Maybe He can hold Roman Reigns’ head between his thighs.
3. A bunch of WWE Legends will be on tonight’s show. Yes, the same ones as always.
4. Hopefully the CM Punk/Undertaker feud will get started tonight, and I can enjoy a Taker WrestleMania build in the Best and Worst of Raw era without having to resort to Hayley Williams GIFs.
If there’s a feud build, we want it nah ah ah ah ah ah ah aoww.
5. Can Antonio Cesaro keep the United States Championship and still lose to somebody in under 2 minutes? FIND OUT TONIGHT ON OLD SCHOOL RAW!

My only question is, how’s Punk gonna shine in buildup if he’s great on the mic? Taker not gonna go “Point-Counterpoint with him. Is it gonna be 5 weeks of Punk just gloating? Or will he break the fourth wall again, and say some real shit like “Oh, you all think a semi retired, shell of his former self “legend” can defeat the Best In The World?”…..yeah, Id love to see that but it wont happen
Punk will do his Punk stuff (Best in the world/ wrestling God/ his streak is way more impressive because 20 wins isn’t a month, etc) and Taker will show up and it’ll be a good match with Taker winning.

(Sorry if I’m glomming on anyone’s business. I’m late.) :)
I was tuning in and out so I don’t know why/when/how they scheduled the fatal 4-way but geez I could see it from a mile away. The whole Undertaker return has seriously lacked so much and now it’s becoming a haphazard WrestleMania.
The old school WWF ring deserves a best. I wish they’d go back to the red, white and blue ropes. It’s visually stimulating. Rosa Mendes also deserves a best because her Musclemania fitness program is definitely working. Yowza. She deserves better than PERM.
Worst: Wrestlemania results seem really, really predictable. . . And having WWF heel legends get pops doing their heel schtick. That was weird.
As Brandon noted about Vince: nostalgia trumps hate. It doesn’t matter that they were terrible people; we remember them, so we love them now. I think it’s the positive rush of nostalgia and fond memories of enjoying the stories they were in, even if they were the bad guys in said stories.
The bad guys are just more memorable a lot of times. Who are the most popular guys nowadays? I’d say the heels. Even the guys that are revered today and hailed as eternal good guys based on legacy (Flair, Triple H, Rocky, Undertaker, Stone Cold, etc.), started out or had long,memorable runs as heels.
Underneath all those spikes, I bet Taker looks a lot like Zoidberg without his shell on.
Perhaps the dark main even was Taker doing the Dance Of Peace.

If Taker is Super Shredder, then CM Punk is Raphael, John Cena is Leonardo, Damian Sandow is Donatello, and Zach Ryder is Michelangelo (in other words, totally useless). Also, Krang is played by Big Show with Bobby Heenan sewed to his gut.
If we’re talking about Turtles in Time that means CM Punk is able to eat like 1 shitty Orton backbreaker or like 3 Miz punches before he gets pinned.
This crowd was as dead as can be tonight. It wasn’t a bad show at all, and the crowd being so flat just hurt it. As Danielle said in the podcast posted today, Buffalo isn’t the best.
It was Virgil’s night to shine, I guess.
I thought they were more annoying than dead.
They had some of the more powerful “Cena Sucks” in recent memory, for what that’s worth.
I could see it in Big Show’s face how lame the crowd was. He walked out to no cheers or boos. Getting no response is infinitely worse than booed.

The night I make a State reference and I see someone named Monkeytorture. Weird. And yeah, this is Wrestlemania, so anyone that does not service the 4 main programs is now in JTTS mode. They’ll probably just stick them all in Money In The Bank if its still happening.
The funny thing is, I’m not even as huge a State fan as others, but the “monkey torture” sketch is one of my favorite things in the world.

The undertaker use to look intimidating now he just looks like your run of the mill larper.
I love how they talk about “CHECK OUT THE WWE APP TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE SHOW” and then you try and remember just how little traffic it can take.
Think they’d let Punk win? I mean Taker made it to 20-0. Why not throw a loss in there! It’d be cool for the story and Punks character at the moment.
It doesn’t really fit the “guy who always thinks he’s getting screwed” thing Punk’s got going now, and winning doesn’t really do anything for him. He’s firmly entrenched as the second-biggest star in WWE, win or lose.
If the streak is ending, bet on it being next year.
That’ll be the intrigue of the match (as always). I’m hoping for a streak break more than ever, but I doubt that it will happen. Granted, I’ll be a believer during match.
I can see Punk winning, if and only if, they plan on turning Cena heel.
I don’t think of him as guy who always getting screwed. I think of him as guy who held the championship for over a year, lost it and now needs something else to hold over people while still being a slug about it. Saying he beat the streak, doesn’t need the title, blah blah. Whatever, I know you folks are right.
If someone is going to end the streak, it will be a heel they’re trying to push to the moon. (Like Brock when he debuted.) Punk is already the top heel they have, so winning the match doesn’t gain him anything.
WM XXX is a long way off, but the guys who currently fit the profile of a streak ender are Cesaro, Ziggler, and the Shield.
The most likely bet, though, is that Taker retires with the streak intact.
Nah, Punk isn’t going to beat Taker. If there is anyone who is going to beat Taker for the streak, it’s going to be Cena. He even said tonight that once he beats the Rock, he’ll have accomplished everything. Well, last time I checked, he hasn’t defeated Taker at Wrestlemania. I could see him laying down the challenge to Undertaker on the first Raw after ‘Mania.
