Not sure if Juggies ...
Joe Rogan is a forward-thinking gentleman with a great understanding of women. He’s absolutely the guy you want standing next to you, sending nonverbal cues to the audience as you announce the female coaches and fighters on the next cycle of ‘The Ultimate Fighter,’ a very important show to the continued mainstream success of your MMA company.
With that in mind, here’s Joe Rogan’s face during Dana White’s TUF announcement. Watch it closely and see if you can figure out what he’s thinking. Spoiler: he’s thinking, “this is a great idea and women are people.”
If I was Dana White, my response to this video would be to call Joe Rogan on the phone and be all, “hey man, listen, I saw your face while I was trying to talk. Yeah, I’m gonna need you to drive over to my house and put your hands behind your back so I can punch you as hard as possible in the dick.” And then I’d move on, because I’m the kind of guy who hired Joe Rogan to communicate my product to America in the first place.
For any and all future announcements, please make Joe Rogan stand behind a heavy curtain.

Oh Joe Rogan, NEVER go full Jerry Lawler.
This show could get really dirty really fast if it was on HBO.
Joe was just practicing his facial expressions using the camera. We all do it.
I think he was just thinking really hard and that is the face he makes. You don’t see it often because he doesn’t think frequently
That’s the same look Joe gave Andy Dick at everyone of their interactions on News Radio.
hahaha THIS. man i miss that show
If you listen to the podcast you would know Rogan is one of the least sexist dudes in the MMA community. He is clearly reacting to the idea of having guys and girls living in the house together, not the idea of women on TUF in general. The show is supposed to be about MMA, but its gonna end up being more like the real world.
he did call a lady a cunt that one time, and got a bunch of other people to call her names like cunt when she wasn’t happy about it. So, I don’t know if I’d go as far as to say “one of the least sexist.”
Uh oh, someone mentioned the podcast. DRINK.
Yeah The Ultimate Fighter is totally normally about MMA and not at all gimmicky, like that time last season where they had 20 minutes of footage of the fighters going to the movies to watch a sneak preview of “here comes the boom” and then had them all talk about how great it was to the camera.
Except that he started his looks as soon as Dana said Rhonda Rousey, NOT when men and women were announced. Watch it again, his face was dumbfounded. It became more dumbfounded when White announced men and women in the same house. That part I can buy. I think its stupid to have all the guys in 1 house, throw some women in there, where the men will feel the need to puff out their chests a bit more and show off and I think its a recipe for disaster, but good for ratings.
I don’t think calling a woman a cunt automatically makes you a sexist. If a woman called me a dick or something of the sort I wouldn’t assume she’s sexist.
It is odd though, as I know Rogan respects Ronda Rousey. I mean, how could you not?
Because he is a dick. Thats why
yeah calling a woman a “cunt” doesn’t make you sexist. some women are just cunts.
Calling someone “the least sexist in the MMA community” is probably like saying Ed Gein is the least criminal of serial killers.
it’s cool yo, if you took DMT like he did, you’d totally know that it’s okay to be sexist if you’re a drug addict
I first saw the video on youtube. thought it was funny and didn’t think anything of it.
then I come to withleather, and now I’m like “JOE ROGAN HATES WOMEN AND IS THE JERRY LAWLER OF MMA. BE MORE PROFESSIONAL”
in the future i’ll skip the joe rogan post at withleather.
Because your opinion is so easily swayed by the writer?
probably has more to do with the fact he was for some reason just watching joe rogan videos on youtube and now that someone says a mean thing about him really hurts his feelings. :( joe rogan is perfect his podcast is perfect everything he does is perfect.
Jeez, Brandon, any time you are involved in an MMA post it goes off the rails pretty quickly.
To be fair, Joe and Mike drink HEAVILY during every single UFC event. He could just be drunk
By the way. may I be allowed to +1 TH? That was funny.
He did that thing where you address someone by their full name. I’m pretty sure that’s standard WWE-style promotion right there.
No, that’s not what happened. Why would a billion dollar corporation talk about what was going to happen before hand on its main revenue producing television show? Rogan’s reaction was completely genuine. If it wasn’t they wouldn’t be allowed to show it. I’m pretty sure that’s a rule.
Yeah, like, I mean, the Kardashians would NEVER fake their reactions, because who would want to watch a bunch of fake reactions to fake stuff all day? Sounds lame.
Guys, guys. I’m not arguing about the authenticity of the reaction. I just thought it was funny the way he finished his comment by saying, “Dana White”, instead of just “Dana”. It reminded me of WWF/WWE promo bits: “Let me tell ya somethin’, Macho Man Randy Savage…”.
That’s all. No fakery accused.
Can we stop fighting and just enjoy the shiny spot on Rogan’s head now?
He’s a meathead asshole like most of the MMA pieces of garbage out there. And the bald head really adds to his likability, believe you me.
enlightening take.
Yeah, good idea to just shoe-horn in all MMA fans into one group. We are all bald screaming woman haters (except when we aren’t).
HI-LARIOUS. I saw this announcement live but wasn’t looking at Rogan at all.
I’m surprised to find that I like Rogan. His visits to KROQ always revolve around insane conspiracy theories and things he found on the web, his standup is pretty out there (which is a good thing, IMO. Fewer Lenos and Cooks Dane, please.), and he really does know his MMA moves.
He doesn’t have the kind of filter that would make this intentionally funny. Absolutely classic.
It looks more like Rogan was told before hand what was up, and he accidentally gave his incredulous look way too soon. You can tell he’s trying to frame his face correctly for when the camera goes back to him. Like others have said, Rogan ain’t sexist. He called a woman a cunt, and he has called thousands of guys dicks/assholes/fuckwads/bastards. Some people are indeed those things! Let’s not overreact here. He’s an actor, and he was trying to sell the wacky-zany-ka-RAZYness of this version of TUF. He made the face when he thought it was time to talk, but missed his spot… then held it for way too long.
In all fairness, he was probably high as shit and had zero muscle control of his stretchy face.
With Leather: it’s Kissing Suzy Kolber without the comedy!
I don’t think you’re gonna get many supporters for your Joe Rogan hatred tour, Brandon. You should probably just stop now. Someone’s facial reactions to a spur-of-the-moment reality TV show announcement aren’t news. But you should totally keep peddling your ultra-feminist, overly-offended viewpoints on a sports blog–especially one that deals with the UFC. I’m sure it’ll go over real well.
Stop touting your love of females here, BRANDON!
That’s definitely what it is. Pure love for females and extolling their many virtues, not manufactured umbrage at items that most of the media didn’t even bat an eye at. Silly me! People laughed at the Joe Rogan reaction video–now there’s someone telling us why we should all feel offended. That guy’s mild grimace ruined my perfectly good day!
Great sports coverage here at With Leather! Can’t wait for the liberal deconstruction of the NFL as a secret tool for the oppression of the modern female. I love politics mixed with my sports!
Sorry, RIJ, you must be new here. If you see Stroud in the byline, there’s a good chance your going to get a great Jezebel piece. In his defence, I’m not certain that his outrage is manufactured.
Fair enough. I habitually visit Warming Glow and KSK, not The WithLeather Times. I am, however, a UFC fan–which led me to click on the Joe Rogan story in the “popular links” section. Little did I know what I was in for.
And I hear you, maybe his outrage isn’t manufactured. It is vapid, needlessly-reactionary, not convincing, and uninformative though.
Cool story, bro.
I really can’t stand this. While I may not agree with RIJ I don’t see the need to simply dismiss her opinion with a “cool story bro.” She makes an intelligent well-reasoned (if in my opinion somewhat flawed) argument. Can’t we respond more intelligently than this stupid childish crap?
Just because you use a bunch of words doesn’t make your argument intelligent or well-reasoned.
Did my “bunch of words” confuse you, my friend? How ironic that the same person who saw fit to reply with the genius “Cool story, bro,” is critiquing me for being intelligent or well-reasoned. Sorry I’m not another Uproxx zombie who’s going to fall in step with the herd and like everything they spew out. I think this article was one of the most needless, self-serving pieces I’ve ever read. If you want to disagree, go ahead.
I’d advise you to come up with something better than “cool story, bro” and an empty criticism. Otherwise you just make yourself look stupid…bro.
I actually listen to Rogan and he’s a mouthy super complicated guy but he is not sexist. He is however an opinionated prick who likes to push buttons so that anyone with any viewpoint could listen to his podcast or standup and find a quote that would back up any of their assumption about him then find an opposing one minutes later. Lame piece Stroud
He’s looking shocked because this is the first time women have been coaches and it’s shocking. He’d be shocked if Dana White said “Next two coaches are Kimbo Slice and Fedor.”
Just kidding, he hates all the women. Brandon just exposed you Rogan. #BOOM
All I can think is…why, on your television show, would you have two hosts that look exactly the same?
I do not care for Rogan at all. But this really seems like a dumb, dumb idea.
The announcement of female TUF coaches is surprising considering the previous hatred of women’s MMA (pre-Rousey) that Dana had. And then announcing it would be a co-ed house is also new and surprising. That’s the look on Rogan’s face. Surprise, not disgust.
I never took it as Dana hating WMMA, more of not thinking there was a deep enought talent pool or ability to draw. Rousey is proving women can draw, the former is still out atm.
Okay “hate” might have been too strong of a word. Dana White is basically Vince McMahon. He’ll shit on something, or someone, until he sees how popular / money making it can be. Then he’ll embrace it. As you said, he probably didn’t see the draw of WMMA for a while until popular and skilled Rousey came along.
This is one of the few occasions where I have to say I whole heartedly disagree with your take on the situation, Brandon. Of course, I could be wrong because I don’t know Joe Rogan on any level beyond his MMA coverage, but from what I can gather he’s never really displayed any kind of open disdain for women’s MMA. The most telling thing about this thread, at least on a personal level, is the kind of reaction other sports fans are displaying in regards to MMA fighters/fans. “Meat head assholes?” Real progressive, bro.
Brandon like Glen I would have to disagree with you here bro. I listen to the Joe Rogan podcast regularly and he has never made a sexist comment regarding women in general nor women’s MMA. He actually had Ronda Rousey on his podcast!
His reaction is funny. His reaction is one of surprise. This mixed sex TUF sounds like a crazy. It sounds Real World-esqe. How is this sexist?
It’s not sexist. The idea is fucking ridiculous. It flaunts all professional means of decency. It’s a money-grab aimed at the same people who pretend to be offended by it, because they can’t embrace who they are and what they enjoy. It’s exploitation, but not of females… it’s exploitation of an idiot audience.
He was reading the teleprompter before Dana was saying it out loud and he had no prior knowledge, Joe Rogan isn’t Joe Buck, and thank the gods for that.
Joe and Dana are on the same page. And it’s spectacle, not civil rights. Jesus, most of society has gone haywire conflating ideals to the point where they can’t differentiate experiences. Dana White’s i nthe business of making money from MMA viewership. Joe Rogan is in the business of lending his narrative to said anarchy. I think the bigger issue is who farted? Seriously. When all’s said and done. Fess up, people. Who farted in here?
*sigh* THIS BUSINESS
Oh crap. *writes check*
That’s why I love Joe Rogan
“My job is not to be the moral voice of the Internet.” – proceeds to attempt to be the moral voice for the internet. By linking the previous article you have essentially made this article about you as I do not see a connection of these two issues. The reaction can be taken in a ton of ways, and although it does look a bit odd on television, to make the jump that you have taken here is a bit much. The immediate thought I had was that the ultimate fighter is losing in the ratings and this is nothing but a ploy in order to get ratings. My thinking was there are not enough qualified women fighters to make this a competition and by putting them int he house together you are looking for a ‘real world’ result and trying to capitalize on the drama of the show. It seems by reading the original article that the issue you had was with his personal army more than him. But are you really any better? You have people during the monday night discussion who seem to get off on being recognized by you as being witty. Remember that epic promo heyman gave where he ended up chunking his hat at vince, talking about yes men and how his ideas are antiquated. It seems to ring true with you, and with everyone who builds up followers like you seem to have. I have been a fan of your writing but to be honest i skip through about 50% of the things you write in your followup. I mean the jack swagger of mars, you might as well have jerked off on the screen every week. And people actually told you it was great, and hilarious. But i didn’t talk about it week after week, i just scrolled past it and hit next. Which is what i feel you should have done with this joe rogan video, instead of trying to make it something, just click next, as it was actually nothing.
IDK man what the best and worst has become is frustrating and i think your best comments of the night is the reason, in the beginning it was fun, but at this point its cadence has gotten far too predictable. Jerry lawler…….pedo…..except when he has a heart attack….then he is a saint. Bully this be a star that……rabble rabble. He has no pants……his theme song is easy to write lyrics to……he smokes pot…….that’s racist .and ultimately is this morally ok. Is Joe Rogan the face of the UFC, it could be argued that he is…….but i would argue that it is and always has been Dana White, and if you are familiar with his past or see the way their true face carries himself in an interview, or a press conference, you would know that while dick punches could be in his punishment repertoire, Joe Rogan is one of the least of his worries.
Rogan hosted the Man Show, True, get over it.
TL:DR Shefty is angry and probably part of the problem in your eyes, Way to make this about yourself.
I’m going to head down to the finest pawn store in town and buy you the shiniest medal I can, Shefty.
It’s MMA so no one really gives a S anyway.
I think Kate Upton is ugly.
:p
Joe Rogan is just worried about women ending up knocked up and fighting or relationships breaking up or fights over men/women (jealousy) just some unprofessional stuff happening.Just have two seperate houses and training camps Dana.
