We’re only five days away from one of the most anticipated UFC Pay-Per-View events in recent history, as Georges St-Pierre will defend his UFC Welterweight Championship against Nick Diaz in the main event of UFC 158 Saturday night in Montreal. And as we’ve already discussed, these two gentlemen do not care for each other one bit, as St-Pierre believes that Diaz is disrespectful, while Diaz believes that St-Pierre is a spoiled, pampered brat MOTHER F*CKER I’M A MAN DON’T TALK SH*T TO ME I DON’T DESERVE TO BE BEAT DOWN A SOCCER MOM TALKED SH*T TO ME!
Sorry, I was momentarily possessed by the ghost of Nick Diaz’s phone conference. Anyway, St-Pierre is so focused on this fight that he took the opportunity to talk about someone else’s main event championship match at UFC 162, specifically Chris Weidman’s big shot at Anderson Silva.
“I believe it’s not gonna be too long that fight,” St-Pierre told Sportsnet in Canada. “This, to people, will be shocking.”
But St-Pierre believes the 28-year-old Weidman, his friend and sometimes training partner, has the Brazilian’s number.
“I believe he’s a bad matchup for Anderson Silva,” St-Pierre said. “Very bad.”
“Anderson Silva is smart because Chris Weidman is coming back from an injury,” St-Pierre said. … “This is gonna be the best time to fight Chris Weidman right now.” (Via the N.Y. Post)
Good old diabolical Georges St-Pierre. If Weidman defeats Silva on July 6 in Las Vegas, then GSP is right and can boast that his good friend was simply the better man and he knew it. Or if Silva wins, GSP can again just point out that Weidman was coming off a torn labrum and he wasn’t ready enough. Either way, GSP is setting us up for his eventual “superfight” with Silva, and I hope that there’s more where that came from.
In the meantime, Diaz doesn’t have time for no jibber jabber, and he’s sending a silent message to GSP, this time in the form of a 23-minute video of his speedbag workout. You know, in case you’re incredibly bored.

Someone gives Diaz a bottle of water at the end of that video. Dude is fuckin’ pampered, like what the fuck?
Also, Weidman is a less sub-prone Sonnen, so I can see him winning, but I don’t know about with a stoppage.
Maybe I’m just a Silva mark, but fool me once. I don’t think keeping Silva on his back for 25 minutes is going to work again. Unless father time slows him down, I don’t think Silva is ever going to stand right in front of Weidman unless he just punched him in the face and he’s about to punch him in the face again.
Weidman doesn’t have the takedowns or top control of Sonnen. He’s going to need to spend a lot more time standing then Sonnen had to and thats bad news for him.
The question is if anyone can out think Silva. His head movement and counter punching is second to none.
I don’t think that anyone can win a grappling match with Silva. Sonnen came close, but it was pretty much lay and pray on Silva in their first match; with some ground and pound; but nothing significant. We have not seen anyone else recently try to grapple or wrestle with Silva; so who knows it would be a good idea for Weidman to do that; by my gut says no as Silva has excellent BJJ.
Striking; not a good idea with Silva. He is very very good with his head movements; and his strikes come at opponents out of no where. They are always caught off guard; and those are always the worst strikes to get hit by.
The problem in grappling with Silva is a person has to move within striking range, and that is when horrible problems arise. Chael gave no fucks, and I don’t think the Wide-Man will, either. But Leites and Maia were super scared (Because they have functioning brains), so guys that probably could out-grapple Silva simply can’t get grabbers on him to try.
I hope GSP saying all of this is because Evil GSP has taken over and is gonna put a hurt on Diaz really bad this Saturday.
I also think GSP and Silva will never happen because of THIS BUSINESS.
