If I’m making a list of things I love and have to constantly defend, “baseball” and “Final Fantasy games” are at the top of the list. I’m a diehard Cleveland Indians fan who has had to justify every crummy “rebuilding” season of fire-sale trades, and I’ve had the “NO, FINAL FANTASY IV IS THE BEST ONE” video game hipster conversation more times than I’d like to admit. I mean, VI is better than IV, but I rep IV.
What I’m saying is that this preview of the 2013 Toronto Blue Jays season in J-RPG form is relevant to my interests.
I swear to God I played this game as a child. I think it was included on some Nintendo 90 games on one cartridge collection.
At the time it didn’t make sense, but now it’s crystal clear.
There’s a lot of gold to be found in the clip (Reyes being weak against artificial turf is especially choice), and while it might not live up to the epic Final Fantasy joke execution of lasagna using Merton in that one episode of Lasagna Cat, it’s what I like to see in my MLB parody videos. Spoiler alert: if you sleep at an inn with Colby Rasmus in your party, you can see one of four dreams about finishing in third place.

IV being second-best isn’t too bad considering that it’s still incredible and VI is just amazing. Definitely hurt that Zeromus came out of freaking nowhere just like Necron in IX
As long as the debate is between IV and VI, I don’t mind. Heck, V was perfectly fine, as was VII. It’s the fuckers that say VIII was the best one that drive me batty. I will stomp on your nuts, asswipes with no taste.
Who in their right mind thinks VIII is the best in the series? I like it, it’s fun, but it’s so easy to break the game wide open due to the junction system. You can have Squall hit for 6k+ with Darkside at level 20.
VII is the earliest one I’ve played, and my favorite so far. IX would have been better if they didn’t force you into a specific line-up at every part of the story.
I have a soft spot for VIII, because my baby sister named one of the characters “Captain Adelbert Tilde ~” which is one of the best names I’ve ever heard.
I love VIII. It’s my favorite of the Playstation generation. I am also a total sap and like love and orchestral music.
Arguably the best part of going back to play old RPGs as an adult is giving your party silly and immature names. As a kid I always left them as is. You would think it would of been the other way around. Anyways, I recommend the name Fucker for the lead role of any game that allows it.
Holy shit, that video was incredible. I want more!
