I absolutely hate this new MLB wild card scenario. I think it’s utter hooey, and I’m sorry for being so vulgar. It’s important to remember, too, that I’m a classy and intelligent St. Louis Cardinals fan, and I still think this wild card play-in game is crap. Yes, the rule is the only reason that my underachieving team is even playing for a chance to be in the playoffs today, and I still hate it. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it, I HATE IT.
It’s simply not fair to the Atlanta Braves, Texas Rangers, and Baltimore Orioles. And don’t give me none of that “Well it wouldn’t have been fair for the Rangers or Orioles and their 93 wins either” because they still would have had a play-in game, and I’m damn grateful for the convenience of their matching records, because otherwise my argument would have sucked more than it probably already does. By midnight tonight, we’re going to have two upset fan bases, and the AL fans will really deserve to be pissed. The NL fans, perhaps not as much. Either way, Bud Selig will probably give himself another raise.
MLB Wild Card Play-in: St. Louis Cardinals at Atlanta Braves – 5:07 PM ET on TBS
I’m a pessimist by nature, so I think the Braves are going to win, because they’re playing with chip(per)s on their shoulders. What’s funny to me is how pissed off some BARVES fans are at the Cardinals, as if it’s their fault that the Braves completely fell to shit last year. Whatevs, blame who you want and enjoy the playoffs… maybe.
MLB Wild Card Play-in: Baltimore Orioles at Texas Rangers – 8:37 PM ET on TBS

I’m certainly not trying to revel in misery, but I’m eager to see how pissed off the fans of the losing team are when their team doesn’t win. Sorry, I just love watching people hate Bud Selig.
NCAA Football: Pittsburgh at Syracuse – 7 PM ET on ESPN
Yawn. Have fun watching this game, nobody. *high fives self*
NCAA Football: Utah State at BYU – 10:15 PM ET on ESPN
Forget this game, how about those dicks at Utah giving us raging blue balls last night like they were going to beat USC. Bunch of jerks.

At least make it a best of 3 series or something. That said, go BARVES, DO A WIN!
When I turned off the Utes game and went to sleep, they were ahead 21-10. I’m just gonna go with that as *my* final.
Cut the season by 30 games, allow the top two teams per division and two wild cards in each league into the playoffs. You’re welcome.

So that’s how this new format works? A play-in? That’s lame.
Can we just cut out the foreplay and let the top 8 teams from each league into the playoffs and reduce exhibition games by 15 and regular season games by 15? Then we won’t have those stupid champagne wild card playoffs celebration, more hope for baseball fans not in the big markets and playoffs bandwagon fans like myself engaged for longer periods of time.
Smackdown is also on tonight too. I won’t watch, but, it’s a segue for a fear I have for the newly formed “Band” stable. I’m very afraid that they are just going to be a stable formed for a few jokes and blown off entirely. This fear of mine has crept in since I thought about Raw while stuck in rush hour traffic. JR kept asking throughout Slater’s match what a guy from the South have in common with a guy “from” India (also known as North East Calgary) and Scotland. Putting that incredibly racist and commentary of apartheid in America aside, does it not just smell of something that will end up having all three walk into a bar for some good ole fashion racist jokes? I hope I’m wrong, but, this is the WWE we’re talking about here.
Ugh. Freaking blown in-field fly call. Might’ve changed the game. Might’ve not. Just sucks for it to end this way for Chipper.
When did MLB hire the replacement NFL officials?
2 words.
Bud Selig.
One word.
Awful.
I don’t know about you personally, Burnsy, but the average Cardinals fan is more like completely classless and probably technically brain dead.
I’m a Braves fan. I had a horrible nightmare about a bunch of errors and an Ump calling Infield Fly on a ball that dropped in the outfield. Boy, I sure am glad that wouldn’t happen in a real game!
*barfs*
The play-in game isn’t the biggest mess in the new postseason: how about the fact the top seeds start out the NLDS on the road for two games. Congratulations, Nationals! You fought all season to have the greatest season in your franchise since you got screwed out of a World Series in 1994. And to reward you, we’re gonna screw you out of home-field advantage even though you have the best record in baseball!
Rangers too, don’t forget they had the best record in AL when Montreal did in the NL…
I hated it too, but that’s mostly because my Rangers decided to choke for the past two weeks. *sigh*
