Tonight’s card for WWE Night Of Champions 2012, the annual event celebrating the one night a year WWE remembers it has more than two champions:

The best part of our discussion tonight is special guest Peter Rosenberg. If you’re wondering why the hell he’d want to sit and talk to a bunch of wrestling nerds about Night Of Champions, 1) we’re lucky, and 2) his Hot 97 bio is brave enough to actually feature the words “pro wrestling”.
In the nearly 2 years that he has been on New York’s Hot 97, Peter Rosenberg has made an indelible mark on New York radio and the global hip hop landscape. His voice can be heard every weekday morning on Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg, a morning show that is revolutionizing urban radio, and every Sunday night on Real Late with Peter Rosenberg. His persona on both of these shows, characterized by his quirky and unique spin on hip hop culture and New York life has made him a fixture on the hip hop scene. But what has endeared him to people most has been his undying passion for everything he covers, whether it’s hip hop, sports, professional wrestling, comedy, politics or entertainment.
Peter’s going to be stopping by for a pre-show pre-show Q+A at 6 PM tonight, so if you’ve got any questions about him, his career, what he thinks about Night Of Champions or how terrible Nicki Minaj is, make sure to drop a comment below and preface it with @Peter so he’ll have an easier time answer it. This is an awesome opportunity for us, so let’s make him feel welcome.

How To Unlock:
Log into UPROXX (or create an account), then share your participation in today’s live discussion on Facebook or Twitter to unlock the ‘Heath Slater ONE MAN BADGE.’
You want this. So let’s have fun hanging out with Peter Rosenberg, then slightly less fun watching Alberto Del Rio lose again.

Jerry: So JR’s coming to announce tonight! Should be good…
Kramer: What’s wrong?
Jerry: Oh nothing…
Kramer: Come on, man, out with it!
Jerry: I think I prefer JBL!
Thanks to the Bleacher Report for telling me last night that Cena won the title. WTF? I guess whoever was writing saw the apparent draw finish and turned it off right away? I’m confused. Anyway, Punk is champ and after some analysis I read yesterday beforehand it makes great sense and I too am hoping for a Hell in a Cell match. But when? Survivor Series? Has there ever been one at SS?
…It would be at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.
Just finished Night of Champions. It was a great PPV, but truly my highlight of the night was DB dancing back and forth, chanting it’s so cold. I need a gif of that STAT!
Also: Jibbles! I missed you so much! Never have I loved a guy on commentary so much that I hated so much when he wrestled.
CM Punk, you have become what you’ve hated most, you have become…THE NEW YORK YANKEES.”
I too am having badge difficulties. I know it seems petty, but i wanna one man badge
I had to make a six hour drive to Kansas and missed all of this–I was alright with missing the PPV, but felt so sad I couldn’t get a Heath Slater badge.
BUT THEN IT WORKED AND THE WORLD SEEMED A LITTLE BRIGHTER
Aw…what the?! Not only did I not get the One Man Badge for liking this on Facebook…but I checked my profile and all my other badges are gone, too. I am greatly disheartened.
There can be only ONE MAN BAAAAADGE, BAY BAAAAAAY
I just thought of something- on top of the “Cena can’t wrestle lulz” angle, this also gives Punk the opportunity to call out Cena’s total lack of respect for the referee’s ruling, and thus wrestling itself.
So – This means that Punk is in favor of cancer, right?
Which will result in a tag team main event on Raw, that I will announce….later.
So you all are telling me that some ppvs are actually worth it, and I should just pony up and order them?
Just watched Punk-Cena. Loved the Dusty Finish, and it should set up excellently leading to Hell In A Cell. Best to the Cole-JBL duo, with Cole calling straight, leaning slightly face, and JBL in a logic based heel role. Subtlety makes for great tv, guys.
Hey you guys, heard the good news: EVE IS THE NEW DIVAS CHAMP!!!!! now I gotta figure out how to break up her engagement & we’ll be set.
Poor Alex, I just assumed you were her new fiance.
Once you have a plan in place for breaking up the engagement, let us know. I think you could find some help around here.
I’m thinking that if I hook up with Layla she’ll see how happy we are together and be totally jelly, (jealous), of us. She will realize what a huge mistake it was to never go out with me, will break the engagement, WE LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER!
The 12 year old behind me started crying when they stripped Cena’s title.
It made me the happiest man in the area.
And his father the angriest. Got the hell out of there.
I usually don’t condone laughing at children, but I don’t think I’d have been able to help myself.
For the record, I 100% condone laughing at children.
Damn sounds like I missed a hell of a show.
I missed the PPV, but I heard something about Cena’s shoulders couldn’t RISE ABOVE the ring mat when performing a German suplex for a pin?
It was a great finish. Fooled everyone. We were all pissed that Cena’d won, and then the ref declared it a no contest.
Everyone except for Shefty.
He quite impressively called it as it was happening.
That’s what Cena gets for trying to please the internet critics by attempting a wrestling move other than a flying shoulder block.
Good fight, good night folks. Hope to see JBL at the announcer’s table tomorrow!
It’s confirmed that he will be
might that have been the best all-around PPV they had this year?
Extreme Rules was better.
Top PPVs:
1. Extreme Rules
2. Night of Champions
3. Over the Limit
i think i agree with that list
Yeah, Extreme Rules had better highlights (Sheamus vs Bryan, Lesnar vs Cena).
Consistency-wise, I’m pretty sure tonight was top.
This PPV was streets ahead of what they’ve been doing lately. Actually glad I watched this
I nominate WWE for a “Best” because that match’s finish was obviously to make us all laugh and smile again after what happened with Lawler live on Raw.
+1 for a better tomorrow
goodnight everyone
Oh by the way, after that Punk Bottom – who else wanted to see a CM Stunner?
That would have been awesome. Punk just trying every finisher until he found one that worked.
i thought it was gonna turn into an Attitude Era finisher-off between the 2 of them
The problem with a Attitude Era finish off is it would have elevated like that old Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck cartoon “Show Biz Bugs” and it would have ended with CM Punk blowing himself up:
John Cena: That’s terrific, Punk! They loved it. They want more.
Daffy Duck: (as a ghost rising to heaven) I know, I know, but I can only do it once.
*CM Punk:
This, if it ended in a Sky High.
Punk should mention how Cenas dad owns his own fed yet still never taught lil Jerrrny how to bridge
So I guess we can’t exactly assume it’s the *WWE* that’s been holding him back all these years…?
I was just upset that Cena’s dad didn’t get a slap… it seems like a right of passage that if you feud with Cena, you get to slap his dad at some point.
I mean, Cena’s dad owns a fed BECAUSE Cena became a wrestler, but ok
if Ziggler cashed, then WWE would have thrown a no-hitter with that PPV…..but I will take a complete game shutout
with 2 hits given up (Kaitlyn getting Gilhooley’d & Sheamus match)
If they had hit that bullseye with Ziggler, the rest of the dominos would have fallen like a house of cards. Checkmate!
No Sandow is at least an unearned run.
Because I haven’t gotten to say this lame shit in 20 years, Hey Cena, cry me a river, build me a BRIDGE and get over it.
I’ll show myself out.
Punk has to, HAS to, lead with “I am the best WRESTLER repeat, WRESTLER in the world” Which is why it will not happen.
Expecting WWE to book the aftermath of this is like expecting the next Pope to be a Jew.
That’s what Cena gets for not taking Eve up on the “Divas Finishers 101″ class.
Eve really could coach the boys a lot after this match. “BANG! ZOOM! Straight to the Moon: A history on Moonsaults” and “Bridges Aren’t Just for Fergie: Learning How to German Suplex” (Alex Wright is a co-lecturer for the latter).
Bets on whether Punk shows a screencap of Cena Celebrating and puts a mission accomplished banner on it tomorrow? Any takers?
+Comment of the Night
paging THESTINGER or MeloMan.
Wrestling Memes needs to get right on that…
+1 fantastic
So we’re definitely all in agreement that this has to continue tomorrow with Punk mocking Cena for not knowing what the fuck a wrestle is?
Of course, that’s what Creative will do, it’s just common sense.
Oh, wait.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA fuck Cena. I’m surprised that they didn’t take the opportunity to have him go all Super Cena in his hometown, but fuck Cena nonetheless.
I don’t know about you guys, but I enjoyed the hell out of that show. I went in as a cynical grownup wrestling fan and left a smiling kid again for how strong Punk looked kicking out of Cena’s finisher like 8 times. Sheamus/ADR was my least favorite match of the night, and only because Ziggler didn’t cash in.
Yup. It was a terrifically fun show and goofy in all the right spots.
Have to admit, tonight was awesome. Think they’ll carry it over to Raw tomorrow?
As long as JBL/Jim Ross and Paul Heyman are there I’m sold.
As awesome as this is, there is negative zero chance that CENA DIDN’T BRIDGE AND SUCKS AT WRESTLING becomes story.
i would cry tears of joy if it did though
then again it could backfire and we could get video packages of Cena training in an MMA cage or something
Leading to Hell in a Cell? I think you have something there, yifsuibfe….
I felt like we needed Tony Schiavone to tell us that “Tonight Was the Greatest Night in the History of our Sport” after that for the full effect.
Skeevonie had serious mental issues. He claimed that every night was the greatest night ever. Very forgetful.
give credit to the writers for shoehorning in the fact that Cena really cant wrestle
As long as Punk openly mocks Cena for failing to bridge this is worth it
That’ll be great. No way he passes that up.
if Punk mentions on Raw tomorrow about Cena screwing up the bridge I will forgive him for Face Punk
I like the ending. Dislike that Punk kicked out of 2 AA’s and was willing to stay down for a fucking german suplex though. That’s as bad as Bryan staying down for that elbow that one time….
true
By what WWE wants us to believe, I agree. But a freaking German suplex off the top turnbuckle should hurt infinity more than getting flipped off someone’s shoulders
it was a SUPER german suplex
Normally I’d be like “oh seriously really with that ending?”
But when it’s based in the reality of “John Cena can’t perform wrestling moves properly” then I am much more accepting of it.
+1, you have convinced me that the ending was fitting now
It only works if Punk mocks him mercilessly for it.
Talk about ultimate FAIL. Cena finally breaks out a new move and he beats himself with it.
Ha +1
+1
The only thing that would have made that better is if Punk did a Zoidberg exit and “woob woob woob”ed his way out of the arena.
+Why not CM Punk?
“This isn’t Fucking ‘Nam, there are rules here” -the referee
OVER THE LINE
The Dude is never over the line.
You don’t fuck with the Cena.
oh just got it, haha my b.
That double pin was just like, your opinion, man.
Also, Dude, “fuck” is not the preferred nomenclature. “Fight,” please.
[/Lameass attempt to get on the Lebowski comment bandwagon while simultaneously mocking WWE's PG obsession]
I want to apologize for missing the whole message thread, but I was really engrossed by a Stormwatch comic.
Warren Ellis era? I’ll allow it.
Damn, I turned it off.
Double womp womp
I didn’t think I’d see a Cena/Punk match better than MitB 2011, but I think this beat it in spades…
i disagree wholeheartedly.
It was good, but nothing will ever compare to MitB
I will disagree so hard with that.
MitB was our Woodstock!
the crowd is the only thing that wasn’t better… even though it was still pretty pro-Punk… the psychology of Punk knowing all of Cena’s moves to the point Cena can’t showboat the Five Knuckle Shuffle is something that isn’t done nearly enough… Punk having to throw everything but the kitchen sink to try and win… thought Punk would never kick out of the second AA… a legitimately good Dusty Finish off of a top rope german suplex with an (attempted) bridge from Cena of all people… got more than I imagined
german suplex for a double pin, reversed into a draw? British Bulldog is rolling over in his grave …
OK. On behalf of the lurkers like me who didn’t buy the PPV and didn’t stream it, please explain what the f*** just happened and if it was supposed to happen.
Cena german suplex off top rope. Didn’t bridge. Got 3 count. Thought he had won. Reversed into draw because both guys shoulders were down. Punk hits Cena with title belt. Leaves.
Punk went to the top rope, Cena german suplexed him backwards into a bridging pin, but both of his shoulders were down. Cena gets 3 count, celebrates for about 10 seconds with the troops at ringside. Referee reverses decision because Cena’s shoulders were down too.
Cena celebrated with the Troops for a few minutes before the ref took the belt and gave it to Punk. Cena kids cried. Withleatherdaddies rejoiced.
Yes it was supposed to happen.
They won’t end a PPV on something that wasn’t planned out beforehand. I guarantee a storyline going into HIAC building off that finish.
Cena kids crying! My cold black heart laughs! BWAHAHA!!!
+1.
+1 I love you.
+1
It warms my soul.
+666
+All the tears
+CANCER
Cena Gostkowski’d it.
bahahaha
You know what? PHENOMENAL ENDING!
It keeps the story going, makes sense, I like everythign about it.
Listen you guys it’s not the referee’s fault for the call, he’s just a scrub brought in because the original refs are on str-
Sorry wrong sport, my bad.
+1.
