The only thing we love at UPROXX more than mash-ups and Tumblr GIFs with subtitles across them are minimalist posters. We'll post a gallery of minimalist posters for anything ... comic book characters, Best Picture nominees, video games as movies, anything.
Thankfully a gent with an Etsy shop (BAMItsBernie) has made the minimalist poster craze relevant to my interests by putting together a set of World Wrestling Federation legends pieces highlighting some of the most memorable characters from fake fighting lore and their finishing holds. Some of these are just absolutely glorious, like Koko B. Ware with Frankie on his head or "Ravishing" Rick Rude's minimalist poster requiring an outline of his entire body because he's Rick Rude. I would've already bought the Andre the Giant one if it said "BUG-EYED HEADBUTT TO THE BACK OF YOUR HEAD THAT MISSES BY LIKE A FOOT AND A HALF" instead of "reverse piledriver".
Anyway, take a look at these and drop 20 bucks on one if the muse moves you. I'm gonna befriend this guy and get him to make me a WEDGIE poster for Phantasio.

I need that Rick Rude one….. that mustache is the stuff dreams are made of… wet dreams, amiright????
want that LOD one!
ugh, beefcake is the worst.
i like that undertaker’s tie looks like a coffin.
waiting for the barry horrowitz one
The LOD one is bad ass. Actually, all of these are awesome. Wonder if I can talk the hubby into getting one for the baby’s room?
“Don’t you want little Elizabeth to know where she came from?! IT’S HER HERITAGE! …. Don’t shake your head at me!”
I figure I get away w/ enough trying to get Elizabeth’s fandom started early. I have friends who have lent me their Chikara and DGUSA DVDs. My poor husband is confused…
If he makes one for Bob Backlund with just a red bowtie and red suspenders I will buy one for each room in my house.
Looking at his past sales, he used to have Austin, Rock, Bret & Jake Roberts ones. Gotta say I like the Bret & Jake ones… others not as much. They just don’t make gimmicks like they used to ;)
i always thought KoKo’s finisher was called the Ghostbuster.
It was. His Hall Of Fame page on WWE.com calls it the “Birdbuster” though, because there’s probably a dumb copyright thing afoot.
When did he ever use that? I can only ever recall him winning with that awful dropkick from the top rope where he landed on his feet because he stepped on you instead of kicking you.
I thought they renamed it when he was doing the “Birdman” gimmick?
@Jacktion: I remember seeing him hit it exactly once back when I had the WWE 24/7. It was during one of his annual survivor series mini pushes I think. I forget who it was on exactly, some big hosstastic cowboy-type. I’m pretty sure you’d hit the name pretty quick if you started listing wrestlers of that type though. Anyway, it was actually probably the most brutal brainbuster not onto the top turnbuckle that I’d seen. Just dumped the poor fool right on his head, he did.
Phantasio would have been much better as a heel.
My credit card is Hulking up.
Shouldn’t the caption for #6 be “anyone want a peanut?”
This is cool and all, but heaven help me I checked this site this morning for signs of an impending Best & Worst of Impact. I think I need professional help.
I’m not going to be on the site next Thursday because I’ll be in California for baseball/SummerSlam so I didn’t want to do one this week and immediately have to take a week off.
I watched about 15 minutes of Impact last night.
Shouldn’t it be called Worst & Best of Impact?
Impact is good as long as most of the storylines are ignored. Style/Angle was a very good match. Bully Ray and his fire-breathing twittah machine is always fun. Aries and Roode had some good angry times.
Oh, also, any time Garrett Bischoff is on screen, flee.
Of course the only match I saw involved Garrett Bischoff.
SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!
Seriously, all of these would be awesome pretty much anywhere in our apartment… which says something about our decor. “Hmmm now should we put LOD next to Titanic Taxonomy of Wrestling Names, Dead Wrestler Society prints of Macho & Sherri, or the Gallery 1988 UHF print… decisions decisions…”
I was half-expecting a Roddy Piper one next to Snuka’s with “COCONUT” across the bottom.
I’m inspired and will be taking the rest of the work day off to create this…
These posters are like an awesome trip down WWF memory lane. I was hoping there would be some manger ones. Capt. lou and The Grand Wizard would have been great.
What, no HBK/Tear Drop Suplex? Me sad, :(
Different decade, friend.
Me no tell time good? Uh Oh.
For a second I thought the Ricky Steamboat one was supposed to be Ozymandias.
Ah, so that WAS Flair. See, I recognized every one of them instantly except that one. I finally guessed right, but I kept looking for confirmation.
Where are you seeing Ric Flair?
My first thought was Ultimo Dragon. Knew it couldn’t be right just because the context, but it still took a few seconds to for Dragon mode Ricky Steamboat to register even after I saw the finisher.
Did somebody say…….BACKLUND!?
Andre’s air headbutts (airbutts?) were my introduction to the reality that something was something something Denmark when it came to THIS BUSINESS. Thanks for making me feel old. Dammit.
My dream in life is to get a pair of tights with my wife’s face airbrushed on them.
What, no Leapin’ Lanny Poffo? I am disappoint.
