This week’s With Spandex guest is Veda Scott, a talented young wrestler who you may’ve seen interviewing stars backstage at Ring Of Honor, hyping upcoming events from the CHIKARA offices or competing in the ring everywhere from Beyond Wrestling in the Northeast to Absolute Intense Wrestling in the Midwest. Oh, and she just graduated from law school.
In episode 4 we laugh about concussions, talk about Veda’s announcement as one of the eight women competing in Anarchy Championship Wrestling’s American Joshi Queen Of Queens tournament, throw shade at community college documentary filmmaking classes, discuss our favorite episodes of ‘Forensic Files’, compare and contrast our identical housecats, complain extensively about Kings Dominion turning three great old rides into one terrible super coaster and the value of pro wrestling perfection. It was a great conversation. About 20 minutes of it in the middle is nothing but bar exam study questions.
Go ahead and give it a listen. You love her already.

Podcast notes:
1. The promo for her match against Sara Del Rey at Girls Night Out 6. We didn’t talk about it, but I love it and want it on my website, so here it is.
2. Comparison shot: Veda Scott’s cat Teddy Hart and my cat Jumbo Tsuruta, respectively. They are the same cat.

3. The over-shot dive. Click it for the larger version so you can see the look on her face.

4. Dominating in houndstooth spandex.

5. Look, he’s got weird hands.

This is a post about pro wrestling, right? Why is there a picture of Peg Bundy at the top?
Because Peg Bundy was awesome. Also, shut up.
WHY WAS AL SO AFRAID TO HAVE SEX WITH PEG SHE WAS GORGEOUS WHAT THE HECK????
I will cut you Otto Man.
I can’t wait to listen to this tonight, Brandon! They’ve been really fun to listen to as I run in the evenings. Thanks, man!
Agreed. The only thing better than “wrestlers talking about wrestling” is “wrestlers talking about TGIF’s greatest hits.”
That said, can I get a timestamp on the beginning/end of the bar discussion? Even five years later, I can’t think about it without blacking out and losing half a day.
I’ll have to wait until I get home to listen to this, too.
Also, I’m an idiot because I stared for like a minute at the “fun to listen to as I run in the evenings” line trying to figure out what THESTINGER meant. Then I remembered that just because I don’t own a portable device to play mp3s, doesn’t mean they don’t exist, and pretty much everyone has one.
I have this thing called a CELLULAR PHONE and since it is no longer the 1990s it allows me to play this things called MP3s. I even have a swanky arm band that ties it to my TOTALLY RIPPED AND MUSCULAR upper arm so it doesn’t bounce around in my pocket.
Or I’m a multimillionaire with an indoor track that I can pump whatever music I want into. Probably that one.
wait, you mean you can use phone for non-phone purposes? criminy, i got to figure out technologies!
That’s what I do, too.
You have a lot to learn about tagging to draw uproxx internet traffic. You need a “Veda Scott’s P***Y” tag.
(Joke’s better if I don’t self-edit, but that’s how I roll)
Color me shocked, SHOCKED!!! A post about Anarchy Championship. Granted Veda and others deserve the spotlight, but Brandon just buy the fed and get it over with already.
It’s my local promotion, what can I say? If I still lived in Cleveland I’d be hyping AIW all the time.
No PWO? They have Crimson and Jimmy Jacobs coming out to no reaction!
“dinky” indie or not, I’m pretty sure you’d have to make more than what a writer for UPROXX makes in a year to buy ACW
I, for one, do enjoy discussions about olde timey dark ride track configurations! I am also glad that I’m not the only one who enjoys referencing The Clipboard of Fun while on vacation to the annoyance of all around me. Being that I live right next to Aurora, IL, I am intrigued and also horrified by this “Wayne’s World 2″ land you speak of. I think we need a sanctioned WL Theme Park trip this summer.
Another fun podcast. I personally love it that the wrestlers you interview talk about things besides the same old talk. Boy Meets World? Chester Cheeto Land? Forensic Files Animal Wrangling? These are the things we need to know! Seriously, this was great fun to listen to, especially when I thought it was going down when King’s Dominion was brought into the mix ;)
Also, we were promised a picture of Brandon with Geppetto from Pinocchio from Disney. I’m waiting…
Nerdy Disney World side-note: you can sometimes see the more random characters during their special weekends like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween and whatnot.
I heart these podcasts too!
And if you’re on Facebook, (which you should be I mean c’mon: BOOKSavvy/FaceBOOK), you can see the Geppetto pic and other cool photographs on his “Pictured with Mascot Types” album on Facebook.
Totally forgot to include it. Refresh the post, it should be there now.
Awesome! I totally love photos of the random Disney characters.
@Alo I am on the Book of the Face but I’m always afraid of coming off stalkerish on there with my interwebz friends. Like I don’t stalk y’all enough on Twitter & WL ;)
Nonsense I do it all the time. . . .uh oh, am I A STALKER!!!??
Nah, you’re just more awesome than I am ;)
The podcast also reminded me that I totally found a houndstooth wrist-warmer pattern to knit. If this endeavor is successful they will accompany me to all wrestling events to find fellow geeks. :)
Once again, Brandon is super great! I feel like such a jerk for not knowing any of these seemingly fantastic independent wrestlers, though.
Goddamn, she’s amazingly hot.
Lots of love for the podcast.
Brandon, my only criticism of the interview is that it would be nice if you could actually incorporate 5 good minutes of wrestling talk with your interviewee. It’s nice to hear that your interviewee is a cool person, but it would also be nice to hear some of their takes on THIS BUSINESS and information about themselves as a wrestler.
That picture of Gepeto is awesome because I’m pretty sure that is some random guy and not an employee.
The funny thing is, I really think he tries to get 5 minutes of talk about THIS BUSINESS, but THESE PEOPLE sidetrack. It’s not necessarily bad, but I can understand the desire to hear wrestling talk on a wrestling podcast.
She loves Robyn. Therefore I love her.
Woah, Brandon has deep voice.
