Philadelphia Eagles quarterback and assumed “trunking” expert Michael Vick took home a BET Award for Sportsman of the Year on Sunday night, and because of this (and stay with me here, because this doesn’t make a hell of a lot of sense) an animal rights group will be boycotting Subway restaurants.
You see, Subway was the sponsor for the Sportsman of the Year Award, and despite the fact that they didn’t name the nominees or the winner (and despite the fact the only connection to sports it has is giving Blake Griffin somewhere to eat breakfast) they have to pay for Vick’s dog-fighting past. I guess the animal rights group was okay eating at Subway despite decades of systematic slaughter of animals for food processing, but can’t handle this one football player who killed fewer dogs in his lifetime than the staff on a routine weekend at the city pound. And then there’s the more important point of “don’t you have something better to do with your life than eating Subway and watching the BET Awards?”
As someone who has a bloody, continuously-beating heart for animals and a sustained dislike of Michael Vick, even I think this is dumb. Sure, Vick winning a sportsman of the year award is sort of like giving Ron Swanson “Woman of the Year”, but who cares? Better reasons to boycott Subway would be “why haven’t I been able to get avocados here before 2011″ or “why isn’t there something better to eat in my town than f**king Subway”.
In a related story, Miley Cyrus is up for best comedic performance for “Hannah Montana Forever” at this year’s Teen Choice Awards, so let’s show them how pissed we are by never eating Dorito’s.

Getting that $5 dollar foot long song stuck in my head would be a better reasons to boycott Subway.
I’ve been boycotting BET for 32 years.
How did Vick win this award? Who were the other nominees? The black kid from Bad News Bears?
How about boycotting Subway because they use fucking MICROWAVES for godsakes. Yes, thanks for the $5 soggy footlong Hot Pocket, Jared.
ps. I am not a crackpot
I am boycotting Subway.
Michael Vick did a lot more than kill a few dogs.
He tortured dogs to death.
He placed his family’s pets in with the fighting dogs because he thought it would be funny.
He is a sick person who seems to enjoying causing and watching extreme pain.
Google up photos of some of Mr Vick’s dogs.
As for Subway, it is bad for franchise owners.
But they chose to buy into a company that knowingly put their comapny name into this situation.
Subway could make a statement and clear all this up, but apparently keep whining that it is not their fault and that they had no control.
Bull…
Subway knew that Mr Vick was nominated and could be chosen.
I find it difficult to believe that a big company was not more prepared to deal with the situation now.
Mr Vick has been honored as SUBWAY SPORTSMAN of the YEAR.
And there is nothing generic in that title.
I guess the Subway beards thought it would be good business to link their company name to Mr Vick’s
So, Subway apparently wants to ignore this until it goes away.
I can tell you that this old lady is not going to forget.
And is not going to do business with Subway again.
Avacados right! I need to tweet more
Vick and his buddies were torturing dogs by hooking their ears up to jumper cables, throwing small animals to be mauled by the big dogs, slamming dogs on the ground repeatedly until they died, and removing teeth to be able to force breed female dogs. There is a HUGE difference between that and raising livestock for food. The author of this article and any of Vicks supporters are at best misinformed, and at worst supporters of heinous crimes.
@mike – As a vegan who really doesn’t want to have to do this all the time, I’m going to direct you to this: [abcnews.go.com]
This should cover the “slamming animals against the ground” thing. Don’t kid yourself into thinking animals raised for food are treated like special snowflakes, they’re fattened and split apart just like any dog in a trunk.
PPL who eat this crap are getting just what they deserve. you see what kind of garbage it is by who they support.
If you don’t see a reason to boycott you should be all right with their new award. Subway Mother of the Year award to Casey Anthony.
Nike And Subway, Like NFL, Support Animal Cruelty and Torture…
On July 15, 2011, In OPINION, Politics, Realety, By Ron Reale
…Let Them Eat Their Shoes And Sandwiches, And Boycott The NFL!
The NFL, Nike and Subway, in an incredibly insulting slap in the face to the 86% of Americans that own and cherish their companion animals, has gone out of its way to hire the only person they feel appropriate to promote their products, Michael “DOGKILLER” Vick.
I guess OJ Simpson wasn’t available.
I figure they want everyone that handles their products to feel just like Michael “DOGKILLER” Vick felt when he had his hands around the throat of his dog, choking the life out of it for losing a fight. As they slide their feet into the shoe, they can think of “DOGKILLER” sliding his two innocent house pets into the pit to be terrorized and ripped apart alive.
With every step of their feet hitting the ground, they can imagine feeling like “DOGKILLER” Vick did as he lifted another fight-losing dog high over his head, and slamming it into the ground repeatedly, until it was dead.
The tingle of excitement they get from wearing new Nikes must make them feel just like “DOGKILLER” felt when he was electrocuting still other dogs that lost fights for him.
As they wash their shoes, they can be just like “DOGKILLER” Vick was, as he drowned his other dog, laughing as it struggled to escape its cruel fate.
Nike is missing a big new market, “DOGKILLER” Trading Cards! Every child under 12 should receive, FREE, a pack of explicit, beautifully embossed, autographed photographs, with hand written descriptions, detailing all of the wonderful, new ways “DOGKILLER” enjoyed, (the quote of one of his friends was that, “he got off” on finding new ways), to kill his animals.
The depraved actions of this thug against animals is similar to the history of many serial killers, so of course the NFL, Subway and Nike, in a craven quest for the almighty dollar, have thrown their support behind this “DOGKILLER”.
Michael “DOGKILLER” Vick is an abomination, a piece of human excrement that deserves to be shunned. His actions are not deserving of a position of respect in the NFL, where children get to see and admire him.
Anyone that would stand next to him on the playing field is an unethical, morally challenged coward. Their paycheck is more important than their being associated with this monster.
I had one pair of Nike sandals. They are in the garbage. I will no longer eat at Subway. I will never again go to an NFL game. I hope the rest of the 86% of animal-loving Americans feel the same.
If not, we are in more trouble as a nation than we think.

Michael Vick is F•cK•NG PUKE! He is an abuser and should not have a family pet, let alone a prosperous NFL career. People need to voice their opinion and let it be heard and felt in the pocketbook. Pitbulls are innocent animals and made out to e terrible because of disgraceful HUMANS that TEACH them to fight thru cruel, inhumane tactics such as starvation and no human contact. Open your eyes and your hearts to the love a homeless pitbull could bring to you and your family today! Responsible people should have children and animals and VICK is NEIThER!!! May he burn in hell for the shit he did to those poor souls. And may God protect his new dog and his kids an wife. He belongs in prison not on national television.
