The gossip column in the daily newspaper used to be the most dreaded place for major sports figures to see their names in bold – until Deadspin.com emerged with the motto “Without access, discretion, or favor.” [sic]By adhering to its mission, the site has carved out a unique niche in the digital media landscape. Enormously popular, Deadspin has become a significant newsmaker by demonstrating a willingness to post the most personal material about sports headliners.
Some people are bent out of shape about the style of news that A.J. Daulerio and Co. are publishing these days, even going as far to call it “non-news.” Obviously, I’m biased, and obviously I disagree. It can’t be any worse than Mary Carillo getting Twitter lessons from Peter King. That was like watching paint dry.


The numbers at Deadspin have gone up, so AJ is justifiably proud. The manner with which he has done it should make him justifiably ashamed. Reporting on other people’s private and sleazy behavior is sleazy in itself. Here’s to the King of sports sleaze, AJ Daulerio!

The quality of Deadspin has suffered tremendously since the leaving of Leitch. People joke about it often, but it’s a serious fact. The problem is that the website isn’t the fun-loving, snarky place it used to be. Now it’s just (for a lack of better terms) rude, and undeservedly full of itself. The place is so up its own ass, it’s crazy–a transformed tabloid, built on its previous reputation when it was an entirely different product. Now they just throw shit on the wall and see what sticks.
Props to that smug little bitch AJ Daulerio, I guess, he’s got his page views up. Hell, I even check the site a couple times a day, but its just a train wreck-effect.
