Most people aren’t horribly familiar with Hank Haney’s show on The Golf Channel, where he takes celebrities that sucked at golf and helps them…suck less. “The Haney Project” has seen the like of Ray Romano and Charles Barkley, and up next is radio’s Rush Limbaugh, who might be the only fat, white Repblican that can’t break 80. Anyway, he was interviewed by the guys at my favorite USA Today blog, and he had some thoughts on golf that will probably annoy 40 percent of you.
Golf is an individual game. It’s about self-reliance. There is no team. You can’t depend on a government regulation or a grant or a subsidy to help you. You can’t arbitrarily punish somebody else for doing better than you are doing, like liberals do all the time.
There is no question that liberals would have a tough time with this game and wouldn’t like it because they’d have to rely on themselves. How’s that? I dare you to print that. –Game On!
I’d argue that most people that don’t think golf has any of the qualities of we would consider a “sport” simply haven’t played it. As for Rush, if he keeps his mouth shut about Donovan McNabb, maybe he could manage to stay on the show for an entire season.

Rush is right. Liberals probably like pussy sports like football where everyone is a nameless drone putting their individual needs secondary to the needs of the collective to better the whole.
Rush likes golf, a sport with little but self regulation, run by large corporations and banks, dominated by white males, where minorities and women were kept out until just recently? Color me shocked.
Also, I’m a bleeding heart liberal, and I’ve broken 80 (im a 14 handicap, so it’s not every time, but still, bring it on Rush).
Also, am I the only one who thinks it is funny that Rush thinks there is something quintessentially Republican about one of the few major sports where you don’t have to work with anyone else to get things done? And people wonder why discourse in this country is in the sandbox.

Nice try, Joel, but no dice. McNabb has never been an elite NFL QB, but he was good to win games and taunt Eagles fans with delusions of greatness. He did that on his own and not because the evil, Jew-controlled, liberal media wanted a darkie QB to slobber over.
I wouldn’t say the media is desirous to have a black QB do well, they are just desirous to see any QB do well. Example: Carson Palmer, Matt Schaub, Tony Romo, Matt Hasselback, Marc Bulger, Jake Delhomme….and the list goes on and on and on. All white QBs whose play never warranted the amount of media hype they received.
