Just had an odd realization: If Randy Moss would have gone to Miami over waivers last week, as so many had expected, he could have been the first player in NFL history to play 17 games in a regular season. Moss was shipped from New England, and subsequently Minnesota, before either team made it to its bye week. Moss could have been sort of a guinea pig for the league’s “enhanced season” plan, provided, of course, that he would have stayed with the Dolphins for the balance of the year.
Unfortunately, Randy went to the Titans, who were off last week. Dammit, Randy. You’ll just have to settle for being the first guy to catch a pass with three different teams in the same year. I’m sure that somehow this is still all your fault.

Got to love the idea of he and Collins re-creating some of that old Raider magic again!
Correct me if I’m wrong here, but wouldn’t he also have been the first to play the same team (Jets) as an away player 3 times in one season?
He would have played 17 games if he’d stayed a Viking, too, as they had a bye on week 4. Someone wrote an article on this a while ago and dug up a couple other players who’d played 17 games, too. Not common, though.
Will Witherspoon did it last season when he was traded from the Lions to the Eagles.
