To follow-up on yesterday’s post of Randy Moss’ dismissal from the Minnesota Vikings: yes, Moss was cut, and no, not everyone on the team is that bent out of shape about it.
Yahoo!’s Michael Silver recounted a Friday incident in the Vikings’ locker room where Moss went out of his way to berate a couple of restaurant proprietors during a catered team meal.
According to one player who witnessed the scene, Moss yelled, “What the [expletive]? Who ordered this crap? I wouldn’t feed this to my dog!”
Said the witness: “It was brutal. The truth is, he deserved to be cut after that. It was such an uncomfortable moment. You know that feeling where you just can tell someone feels so small? That’s what it was like being there.
“This wasn’t a chain – it was a mom-and-pop restaurant, and you could tell it was their best stuff. They had a special carving station set up, and there were players and other support staff lining up to eat it. And [Moss] is at his locker saying, ‘You know, I used to have to eat that crap – but now I’ve got money.’ You just felt so sad for them. I had never seen anyone treated like that.
“And by the way, the food was actually really good.”
Moss’s waiver claim should be sorted out by 4 pm tomorrow; he’ll be the first player in NFL history to start more than one game with three teams in the same season. My Randy Moss Bengals jersey is in the mail right now. I just hope it still fits after I eat all of this Halloween candy.

I want to see a team sign him and just throw him 8 yd passes over the middle until some lucky db or linebacker actually kills him. Sure that would waste a lot of money and wouldn’t help that team actually win games, but there seem to be plenty of teams not interested in winning games anyway, so the unspoken attempt to kill one of its players on the field would be a step-up in entertainment value for that teams’ ticket holders.

I still like Moss. I think what he did was wrong. But he should have been made to apologise, not to release him. Afterall, he didn’t kill dogs, he didn’t shoot himself with an illegal weapon, he didn’t proposition some girl in the bathroom, nor did he send a picture of his genetals to a staff member. This was an over reaction and should been dealt with it that way.
Yes and this is somehow worse then the loveboat scandal, and Brett favre’s texting. This is again the “Man Child” on a power trip. I agree what he did was not wrong, but with guys getting second chances for manslaughter and dog fighting this just doesn’t make sense.

Randy Moss is conspicuously a manchild in need of mental health care. I agree with many of the posts here. Cruel, indifferent behavior, lack of empathy, and the team is silent. This is a physically talented person with a serious mental health issue that is not being addressed. It will get worse.
It’ll eventually come out that Moss’ input was ignored in the game against the Pats’ Why? Childress is a self proclaimed Offensive genius and no one has any balls to question a guy that has proved nothing. Is Moss a headache? Sure, but we all knew that. Did the team change or modify its offense to take advantage of Moss’ talent? Did Moss quit in New England? Yes, and if you expected him not to you’re a fool. An average coach would have managed Moss, but the Vikings don’t have an average coach, we have a never been and never will be coach that shouldn’t be in the NFL … period.

I also stopped watching football years ago, I used to be a huge fan, no longer. There are more great things to do then waste your time watching football. Fans need to strike all pro sports and bring them down

One of these days, I am actually going to be able to read through all the posts on this or some other sporting or political website and see that NO comments have been made that are race-related. Total Viking BS!!! Randy owns a NASCAR racing team with 2 of the nicest Christian drivers in the world. They think highly of Randy. I have also seen him at the race track and he has always been a very polite gentleman. A genuinely nice down to eath man. Those Vikes are shameful!

If you ever happen to be on the St. Paul side of the Mississippi River…mosey on down to Newport for a meal at Tinnucci’s. Been there forever…and they were the caterers that the idiot blew up at. Some of the best food in the Twin Cities…even bake all their own bread. Guy I know with the team said it was shameful & embarassing…the other players were just stunned. They knew that was the beginning of the end for Moss.

I don’t like Chilly’s style or coaching, but he does have one skill I have to admit too. That he can somehow assemble a great football team with talented players. The Vikings have a lot of talent on the team, although Chilly is better at undercutting confidence than building team focus and effort. My prediction (Hope) is that Chilly is released, Leslie Frasier finishes up the season, and Joe Webb starts a serious team focus on winning energy!! One can hope.
Were I Randy Moss I’d want out of Minnesota also. I can imagine how demoralizing it must’ve been for the team to have to play behind Brett Farve with a broken ankle while they had young healthy quarterbacks capable of playing on the sideline. Terrible management decision and a blow to the confidence of the team.

a coworker and i had done a small job at his house in Medina while his gym was under construction. his house manager invited us back for a barbacue some time later and said randy insisted randy wanted to know what kind of beer we drink so he would have it on hand when we arrived. no date was set but he supposedly insisted we be there. of course we bragged about that for a few weeks until we realized it was never going to happen. not surprizing right.

For the record, the caterer’s were the Tinucci’s and they have some of the best damn food I’ve ever eaten. They have somehow managed to stay in business for 52 years without Randy Moss’s endorsement. Just sayin…

Actually, it was reported that an unnamed player on the team told Moss to “shut the phuq up” after the tirade. Also reported was complete silence. I can just picture it. Moss being Moss and everybody feeling embarassed for him and I’m sure they talked to the caterers in the wake of Moss’s departure, although I don’t know that. Never mind all that, why am I trying to defend the Vikings.

Moss’ release a bad move? Time will tell. What is predictable is Moss’ behavior. For Childress to cut him does not surprise me. When someones’ behavior does not respond to “a talking to” or reasoning with, you have to take action. Randy’s unconscionable act in the locker proves he is not a professional. Talented?…Yes. Predictable?…Yes. No Father/son talk would have cured this ail because he appears to lack the ability to reflect on his actions. I also understand that nobody is perfect. Favre sure isn’t. But even when he makes mistakes, it is because he is trying to make the most out of every opportunity. Not sure why Moss doesn’t do the same!

Why didn’t the commissioner step in and remind him of his efforts to clean up professional football? If the coaches in the room, the support staff and other members of mngmt don’t speak up and advise him that he represents the Vikings and pro football, then Goodell has no choice but to fine him, suspend him, and give him an ultimatum or bar him from ever playing again. Grown men should be playing the game regardless of IQ level – an education that comes from discipline also is needed here.
