President of THE Ohio State University E. Gordon Gee said something ill-advised about Boise State earlier this week, and I have a legitimate beef when the president of my alma mater starts talking trash about my secret-misstress-favorite football team.
“Well, I don’t know enough about the Xs and Os of college football,” said Gee, formerly the president at West Virginia, Colorado, Brown and Vanderbilt universities. “I do know, having been both a Southeastern Conference president and a Big Ten president, that it’s like murderer’s row every week for these schools. We do not play the Little Sisters of the Poor. We play very fine schools on any given day. So I think until a university runs through that gantlet that there’s some reason to believe that they not be the best teams to (be) in the big ballgame.”
“If you put a gun to my head and said, ‘What are you going to do about a playoff system (if) the BCS system as it now exists goes away?’ I would vote immediately to go back to the bowl system,” he said.
I’ll say this to Ohio State and anyone else that thinks Boise State is playing a weak schedule. You think you can beat Boise State? PLAY THEM. The Broncos have only lost one game since 2006, and they even beat Oregon last year and the year before that. If they run the table, they should go. It’s about time to screw Auburn again, anyway.

UGA did. They weren’t THAT good yet, but they still killed em. It will be interesting to see how they fare against them in next years Kick-off Classic
Dude, are you kidding? First off you named three teams in this article who all have a history of being overrated. Ohio State is 0-fer against any sec team in bowl games and they have been smacked in the last 3 bcs championship games they’ve been too. “You think you can beat boise state, play them!” Any quality sec or big 12 team would crush boise state. where is boise state’s signature win? Va. Tech? didn’t they lose to James Madison? don’t they play in a weakass conference? this article should be wanked on. oregon is part of a weak pac 10 conference and they lost handly to ohio state last year in rose bowl. the day i see boise state play a truly good team (not tcu in their bowl game last year who also plays bitch teams in their bitch conference) i will shut up.
who has boise state played that proves they are a top 5 team? fresno haha? va. tech? didn’t they lose to james madison? get fuckin real, clown.
didn’t think my first post went through so i wrote a shorter second. also, if boise state is serious about being considered for a title (which unfortunately they already are) they could guarantee themselves a place in the bcs champ game if they start scheduling harder non-conference opponents. va tech is not what they were. 3 years ago va tech was not what they were. they wont ever schedule another sec team again because they know what uga did to them. the reason they don’t play anyone is because they don’t want to…they wouldn’t be able to slide into major bcs bowls if they did. ur a tard.
You present a fucking stupid argument. Boise State was begging anyone and everyone for a game, and Va Tech was the only one that would play them. Call me the next time an SEC actually leaves their own state for a decent out of conference opponent.
Not surprising he would back the bowl system – the bowl system is an apparatus which ensures the 6 ‘automatic qualifying’ conferences will always control college football. Members of the non-auto qualifying conferences should opt out of the BCS (if possible) and establish a playoff format to determine their champion. IMO after a few years the big 6 conferences will be compelled to sign on to a playoff system.
sorry, umm who won the last three national championships? the only reason boise won a big bcs bowl last year was because they got to play another team exactly like them…TCU. you can’t call sec teams out for not playing tough non-conference games because they already play tough conference games…boise state and tcu do not. i would be for a playoff over the bowl system…the outcome would probably be the same however as an sec team or a big 12 team or an occasional pac 10 team would win. a playoff system would be great in my opinion, fucktard. boise would finally have to play with the big boys.
what happened last time a mediocre sec team played boise? if i recall correctly they got worked by uga who had limited success that year.
Boise state would have rather played any team other than tcu in their bowl last year.
Boise state would agree to play any team in their non conference games. Oregon, auburn, lsu, alabama, Ohio state, etc. They want to be taken seriously. It isn’t Boise state that is scared to play the big boys, it’s the big boys who are scared to play Boise state. You should be calling out every other team, not Boise state. Nobody will agree to play them because there is no upside. They either beat Boise state which they are supposed to do, or they lose to Boise state and ruin their own title hopes.
Guess Nevada kind of made all these arguments moot. I do think an open playoff system would add to the National Championship excitement…Look at NCAA basketball’s “March Madness”…and it would allow for Cinderella stories which we love so much.
Now if my UW Huskies can just beat Cal and WSU and go to a bowl game, my season will be redeemed!
maybe before boise state worries about the big boys…they should focus on not losing to NEVADA, fucktard. Once again, the SEC champion is gonna go to bcs national championship and once again they are going to win. Boise State is a top 25 team but they aren’t a top 5 team…they don’t have the players or the strength of schedule yet. there signature wins are weak at best. Virginia Tech lost to James Madison…not to mention the ACC is a weakass conference compared to the SEC, BIG 12, BIG 10. If boise state really wanted to play with the big boys…they would have accepted an offer to play in the PAC 10…instead they chose to go the mountain west where they will play other teams like them.
Here is a question for the ages… How many ‘tards would a Fucktard fuck, if a fucktard could fuck ‘tards ?
To be more to the point – seriously dude, Boise and TCU would get fucking MAULED in the SEC. Your lack of respect for Auburn is sad,,,like you…
Boise State sucks. Let me guess, no real teams could handle NEVADA either right?? They have a gimmick offense and play garbage teams which inflates their numbers heavily. There is no benefit for a real team with a real schedule to take them as an out of conference game so Boise State can prove how good they are. They can join the PAC-10 since it is taking on more teams. Problem solved. But they do not want to do that…
Hey, nice call on Boise being so dominant. Hahah what a joke. The reason top teams avoid scheduling Boise has nothing to do with fear. It’s because of the ridiculous terms Boise demands ($1 mil payday; home/home in their shitty little 33,500 seat stadium). Boise is a farce and they got exposed for being as much. This isn’t the first time either. They played an average Arkansas team in 2002 and got hammered 41-14. Not surprisingly, that was the only decent team they played on their way to an 12-1 record and an inflated #15 ranking.
