Three things have remained constant since 1990: The Simpsons, Carson Daly being a douche, and Bobby Cox managing the Braves. One of those things came to an end yesterday. Nope, The Simpsons are still on the air. I was surprised, too.
With the Giants 3-2 victory last night to advance to the NLCS, Bobby Cox ended his 25 year career, the last 20 of which was at the helm of the Atlanta Braves. Bobby’s career ends with 3 NL Manager of the Year awards, 1 AL Manager of the Year award, 2 World Series championships, and the record for most ejections in the history of the game. I’m not sure the last one is so much of an accomplishment as it is a tradition of being a pain in the ass. Cox is fourth on the managerial win list, composing a career record of 2504-2001.
Following the game, the Giants showed class by bringing their celebration to a halt to honor Cox as he acknowledged the standing ovation from the crowd.

2 World Series Championships?
The second world series was won in our hearts, Deux. In our hearts.
Or I’m just flat out stealing one of the Yankees titles. Fuck those guys.
As a Braves fan….I wept.
Yep, two. 1995 as manager of the Braves. In 1977he was the first base coach for Billy Martin’s Yankees. And yeah, fuck those guys.
With all the errors the Braves made against the Giants I think they couldn’t wait for him to retire.
Don’t forget the one domestic violence charge.
/Was he ever charged? If not, I’m sure he should have been.
Hey Pale hose you are an idiot. The man was a great manager who got more out of his mediocre lineups than anyone in baseball. Even Tony LaRussa said Bobby cox is good for at least 10 more wins than his team would provide simply due to his strategy. It aggravates to hear someone try and bring someone down. especially when you have no knowledge of the facts of the case. He never was charged. Why does everyone want ot see everyone else fall ? Oh yeah because you hate your own existence.
Kudos to you Bobby Cox and thank you for a lifetime full of memories. GO BRAVES !!!!!!!! # 6 FOREVER !!!!
I felt a little sadness seeming him choked up postgame, I respect the man though never liked him and don’t understand why he’d retire? Cox seems like a guy that should die in that dugout. Same with Ozzie Guillen, but that will be after getting stabbed in a post dugout cockfight argument.
No one could lose a playoff game like Bobby. Well, maybe Marty Schottenheimer.
Hey #6Fan — Me thinks you take life a little too seriously.
They are doing wonderful things with pharmaceuticals these days.
