T’Aint Nothin’ Like A UT Bar Brawl

Two University of Tennessee football players were charged after a good ol’ fashinoed bar fight broke out in Knoxville very early this morning and two more have been questioned about the incident. To add some icing to that cake, an off duty Knoxville Police Department officer was left with a head wound after trying to stop the fight between the players and an unidentified man. It’s a pity, really. These young men could have really benefited from the leadership of Lane Kiffin.
Two University of Tennessee football players have been charged and at least two more have been questioned in connection with a nightclub fight near campus.
Freshman wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers (disorderly conduct) and sophomore safety Darren Myles Jr. (assault, resisting arrest and evading arrest) were charged after the 1:50 a.m. incident at Bar Knoxville on Cumberland Avenue. Senior wide receiver Denarius Moore and sophomore defensive tackle Montori Hughes have been questioned regarding the incident.
A Knoxville Police Department incident report claims that off-duty KPD officer Robert Capouellez was injured with a “head wound” after trying to break up a fight between one unidentified man and several UT football players. KPD officials haven’t released the other man’s name because his family hasn’t been notified. –Times Free Press
Seven to ten UT football players were involved in the fight, because a Division 1 football player really needs six other Division 1 football players backing him up against one guy. The football players were not opposed to using weapons to beat down the one man, who was obviously a combination of Chuck Norris, Bruce Willis, and Bruce Lee. Sandy Morton, the bar’s co-owner, gives the inside scoop.
“Basically, it was a normal Thursday night — Thursday’s our big night,” Morton said. “We had all the UT football players come in. They’re on a first-name basis with my husband (and co-owner), and they get VIP status, which means they pay no cover at the door. We’ve never had a problem with them in the past, but tonight, apparently they had a falling out with another gentleman. I don’t know why. I don’t know what happened, but several of the guys started beating up the other customer. I want to guess there was seven to 10 guys beating up this one gentleman.
“All the security then rushed in and were trying to break it up. My husband saw them picking up bar stools and starting to swing them. We got them out the door with security. There happened to be a friend of ours who was an off-duty police officer outside. He tried to help, and he ended up getting knocked out in the street and proceeded to be kicked while he was down on the ground in the middle of Cumberland. –Times Free Press
Why wouldn’t you give VIP status to football players? It’s not like they don’t have huge egos or an unmerited sense of entitlement already. This is a pretty standard happening for the Tennessee athletic program. They’re players seem to feel as if laws don’t apply to them, which is true, because they never seem to end up in jail.
Last November, three football players were arrested on charges of attempted armed robbery. Two were among the most prized signees of Kiffin’s first recruiting class, and were quickly dismissed from the team.
In January, basketball star Tyler Smith was dismissed from the team by coach Bruce Pearl because of gun charges that also led to the suspension of three other players.
In Fulmer’s final season, 2008, at least a half-dozen Vols had run-ins with the law. –USAToday
Here’s some boring news footage of the beat down. Maybe they should translate these same beat down abilities to the football field.

oh for the day when doctors got to name babies who’d be given up for adoption. hemophilia jones, euthanasia williams, nausea de longe – not an errant apostrophe in the bunch. i fear that golden age won’t soon return.
Da’Rick’s mom was arrested for loitering with intent to give your child a name that will be sure to end him up on Cops one day.
The officer said they would throw the book at her.
She said, “Book? What be that?”
The NCAA may also be looking into the program because of the VIP treatment. The bar can’t let players in for free.
Those UT football players – they’re real bad asses!
This is why the almighty UT Vols are nothing more than a 3rd rate penitentiary wannabe football team — Great class!
Supposedly the charges against Da’rick will be dropped. KPD usually arrests first then asks questions later. So this prob won’t be a big deal. Myles Jr. will be prop be kicked off the team tho since this is his 2nd arrest in like 3 months
This helps explain why Albert Haynesworth is the way he is.
Da’Rick is obviously the retarded black version of Derrick. They changed the spelling to Darick and threw in an apostrophe because apostrophes are baaaalin’!!! Seriously though, the state should be giving black kids their names from now on.
Al Davis was right
I hope they didn’t volunteer any information to the police.
