It seems that ESPN is content with airing this annual “border war” of men’s slow-pitch softball between the United States and Canada. And that’s fine with us, because it serves as the impetus of a yearly internet flame war to which you could set your watch. The guys at Joe Sports Fan did a photo essay on the ridiculousness of the game, which aired last week, and the only thing more hilarious than the images are those champions of slow-pitch defending their “sport” in the comments section. It’s getting rather testy in there, too. If this keeps up, JSF might soon be published out of a bunker.

I thought the highest level of slo-pitch softball was college inramurals. The flame war in the JSP was epic. Sounds like hardcore slo-pitchers are a sensitive bunch.
People that try hard at softball are the biggest fags on the planet.
Punter sure hides the ball well during his delivery.
Slow Pitch Softball is awesome…to go out after work, hang with friends, and drink some beers while getting some “exercise.” Any other use of the “sport” is ridiculous.
Well, the pitcher in my league two years ago took a line drive to the throat. Sent him to the hospital.
Still – kinda pussy.
softball + beer = fun…softball + serious(weekend warrior) = HOMO
serious also equals could not hit a breaking ball
What toidi said in his first comment. Also I pitch for our softball team without a mask. Because I have a glove. And balls.
Is that a 1980′s MASK reference up there?
Slow pitch softball IS fun, but fast pitch is more fun. I bet 90% of you nerds couldn’t hit a slow pitch out of the infield.
JP. Absolutely. Because I miss every pitch that I’m not gay enough to swing at.
Hey, in defense of softball, it’s the ultimate beer drinking sport: You can’t leave first until you chug a beer, any man scoring has to chug a beer, you have to chug a beer at the top of all odd-numbered innings and the fourth inning is the beer inning.
When I think of people taking softball seriously, the image that comes to mind is anything out of the movie Beer League.
softball is baseball for people with glasses
I thought softball was women’s baseball. So is this for gay men only? I don’t get it.
