Hedo Turkgolu will play for his third team in three years when the NBA season gets started this fall. One year after signing Hedo to a 5 year, 53 million dollar deal, The Raptors traded the Turk to the Pheonix Suns in exchange for guard Leandro Barbosa and forward Dwayne Jones. I feel bad for Barbosa. Having to play basketball in Canada is the NBA’s equivalent of the death penalty.
The Phoenix Suns have acquired forward Hedo Turkoglu in a trade that sends guard Leandro Barbosa and forward Dwayne Jones to Toronto.
The deal gives the Suns a third forward in their attempt to replace free agent Amare Stoudemire. Phoenix signed swingman Josh Childress in a sign-and-trade deal with Atlanta earlier Wednesday and picked up Hakim Warrick in similar swap with Chicago.
Turkoglu spent one disappointing season in Toronto, averaging 11.3 points after being named the NBA’s most improved player with Orlando the year before.
Barbosa, the NBA’s 2006-07 sixth man of the year, played seven seasons in Phoenix, averaging 12.6 points as a key sub. Jones spent most of last season in the NBA Developmental League. –The Associated Press

I disagree. I’m Canadian, I hate hockey and I love the Raptors. We’ve got the worst team name in North American sports. We’ve got the worst chance of any NBA team at landing any good players due to a) being in Canada (weather) and b) being in Canada (taxes). We’ve also got a solid group of fans (top half in attendance) despite rarely being very good (4 of 15 seasons with a winning record). I know what a PER and win-share is, but couldn’t care less.
It’s good Hedo is going to a nice home for retirees like Arizona because he decided to retire the minute he signed that contract.

Basketball was invented in Canada. Raps have some of the best fans in the league. 14th overall in attendance, ahead of the Heat, Magic, Suns etc.It’s a great organization to play for and a city players love to come to from around the league.

FYI, There are only 2 states in the USA with lower taxes and its also cold in New York, Boston, Chicago, Detroit. Minnesota. So those are total BS
The real negatives about playing basketball in Canada is that (outside of 1 year) the Raptors management has made really bad choices in player personnel and the team has stunk. Also, basketball will always play second fiddle to hockey. (Big NBA egos can’t handle that)
