As you may have heard, the U.S. Mens National Team tied England on Saturday, after Clint Dempsey’s shot from 25 yards skipped out of the hands of English goalkeeper Robert Green to even the score in the game’s 40th minute. Green is
an easy scapegoat for the Brits, but both sides should be happy with the draw: the Americans outplayed the Three Lions throughout the first half, and only a momentary defensive lapse allowed Steven Gerrard the space for his 4th-minute goal. At the same time, the Americans left their attack in the locker room after halftime, allowing a superhuman performance from Tim Howard to preserve the knotted score.
Here’s my biased two cents: England was favored, they could only manage a tie, and the fact that their fans are blaming it on an isolated mistake overshadows the defensive clamps the U.S. put on Wayne Rooney and the lack of production they got from their midfield superstars (Gerrard’s goal aside, he and Frank Lampard never quite meshed).
But analysis is boring and gay. What you really need is testament to America’s awesomeness and Britain’s disappointment in images. And brother, we got that in spades. Thanks for the Second Amendment, twats!

Are those Redman, Whiteman and Blueman in the bottom middle pic?
ROCK, FLAG AND EAAAAAAAGLE!
It just got a lot easier to explain to Europeans who Bill Buckner is.
Yes. Fuck them and their taxation without representation.
Not sure what hand sign he’s making in the picture, but Dempsey should have given the crowd what they’d just seen: a shocker.
Oops, sorry for the tease. The thumbnails are click-able now.
England is catching up to us in soccer. 1950 we beat em. 2010 they tie us. 2070 is gonna be their year. book it.
Congrats to the USA, they thoroughly deserved the draw. Just wish the game was a bit more open and entertaining. There was never any doubt USA would ge past the first stage but now I’m worried they may pip us to top spot! Neither of us wanna finish second and get the Germans in the next round.
GO. FUCK. YOURSELVES.
Ha, to the more initiated, the line about Lampard and Gerrard “never quite meshing” is pretty amusing. Fact is, for the best part of a decade, England national side managers have been trying to get the two midfielders (two of the best in the world at their trade) to play well together, and it has never happened. Not once. And now, for whatever reason, Fabio Capello is trying again to make it work (and given his legendary status, no one’s told him he’s wasting his time)… Sadly, this isn’t the worst of England’s problems. Their goalkeeper curse clearly lives on. Strange how the supposedly inferior USA side has a host of excellent keepers to choose from (Tim Howard, Brad Guzan, the sadly-retired-from-internationals Brad Friedle…) while England can’t seem to find one.
