I would love to point to the Lakers’ win over the Suns in Game 2 of the Western Conference finals as Exhibit A of why Kobe Bryant is better than LeBron James. Of how Kobe wills his team to victories while James pouts in the corner when he’s not dribbling off his foot. Of how Kobe’s Lakers can close out a series while James’ Cavs seem to do anything but. But I can’t. I can’t because the game doesn’t fall on Kobe’s shoulders every night. He has so much help around him.
He has Pau Gasol, who led all scorers in Game 2 with 29 points (Kobe had 21). It’s no coincidence that the Lakers finally managed to get deep into the playoffs once Gasol came to LA in 2008 in a trade so lopsided that it looked like the product of a Michael J. Fox pottery class. In the three years between Shaquille O’Neal’s departure to Miami and Gasol’s arrival, the Lakers missed the playoffs once and were bounced from the first round twice.
He has Lamar Odom, who responded to Amare’ Stoudamire’s claim of enjoying a “lucky” Game 1 (19 points, 19 rebounds) with 17 points and 11 boards in Game 2. He has Andrew Bynum; that’s three teammates of Kobe’s that are seven feet or taller. He has a Hall Of Fame coach and an owner that doesn’t resent treating him like the superstar that he is. Oh and Ron Artest and his 33 minutes per game weren’t a terrible offseason addition, either.
The Lakers should be destroyin’ fools, but as the Book of LeBron has taught us, establishing expectations and meeting them are two entirely different animals. But really, if Phoenix doesn’t step it on their own floor in Game 3, they should just cancel Game 4 and send LA to the Finals. Not that such a measure would be necessary. After all, LeBron was the one that couldn’t close out a series.

Of course Odom is lucky, he married the fat Kardashian sister.
I thought it was lop-sided, not lob-sided.
It is. Lob Sided is not a term.
Ah Punte, it’s a shame that you spoiled a pretty good joke (Michael J. Fox pottery class) with a misspelling.
/fuck the Lakers. Kobe can’t get shit accomplished without a competent big man in the middle.
Kobe was actually pretty funny on Modern Family last night which was the surprise of the century. And he didn’t even rape anyone (I think).
It’s a term now.
Enough of the supporting cast talk. The Cavs had the best record in the league for the past 2 years. He has help. While LeBron was crying about his elbow, Kobe got his knee drained and still dropped 40. Stop trying to cover up the fact that LeBron doesn’t have championship intangibles or a killer instinct.
It’s amazing how Kobe got his championship intangibles and killer instinct the very instant the Lakers got a 7-footer with great low-post moves, soft hands, and passing ability.
I don’t know, at least Lebron doesn’t rape women. Put Kobe on the Cavs the last two years and that team might not have even made the playoffs. Put Lebron on the Lakers, they’d never lose. Bottom line is Kobe can’t win without a big man. Lebron pulls all the weight and can carry a 40 year old Shaq and a rag tad group of mediocre players to the playoffs. Let’s see what all the Kobe dick suckers say when the Celtics destroy the Lakers AGAIN in the Finals.
^^^
Lol all Kobe haters have is the rape case. Yeah Kobe needed big men to win the championships, but at the same time the big men needed kobe to win championships. Jordan needed Pippen, Magic needed Kareem, Bird needed, McHale and Parrish. Its a team sport and the fact is as a team the Cavs posted the best record the last 2 years. They just can’t finish the job in the playoffs. And this isn’t 2008. Paul Pierce won’t be going against Vladamir Radmonovic; he’ll have to earn it against Artest. Gasol is tougher from experience and Bynum will be playing this time. Underestimating the lakers is a huge mistake. After this year its gonna be 5 championships in 10 years so all the haters can kiss the rings.
Let’s stop predicting the future and focus on the facts (and thank you, Mr. The Facts for talking about the truth vs. gossip column horseshit like most of the other fags here). IF the Lakers get to the Finals and IF the Celtics get there, it will be a great Finals with two equally matched teams. We have a long way to go before that happens, so all we can focus on is the past. LeBron is a loser. Plain and simple. He’ll continue to be a loser until he sports a ring. At one point he was going to win more rings than Russell (who has 11 in case you forgot). Now, he’ll be lucky to win a couple before his career ends. Kobe has 4 and counting. LeBron plays for a team custom built around him and to his liking. He failed. Kobe plays for a team custom built around him and he wins. Kobe plays with one All-Star (Pau) and one former All-Star (Artest). LeBron plays with one All-Star (Delonte West) and two former All-Stars (Shaq & Antwan “I suck balls” Jamison). Kobe has the best coach in the history of the game. Kobe is on a team that should win, or at least compete in playoffs, and that’s all he’s ever done. He delivers. LeBron has continued to fail in the postseason, whether it’s getting swept in the Finals against the Spurs or failing to get past the second round this year. Thus, LeBron should suck Kobe’s dick on national TV while Shaq performs the cleans up.
^^
Really? Yeah, I guess you’re right, it’s “only” rape. Not like he said f@g or smokes or did something truly awful.
Delonte West is an All-Star? What?
I think you’re referring to Moe Williams who was a replacement due to injury and that was a very generous accomplishment.
Look, Kobe does better under pressure than LeBron does, but even under pressure and in the playoffs LeBron is better than Kobe (despite his horrific showing this year.) The fact remains that LeBron has nobody even CLOSE to Pau on the Cavs.
Pau remains underrated, especially as it relates to Kobe v LeBron. Just admit it Kobe backers; his supporting cast is stellar. It’s not a bad thing and it will result in a title most likely.
Just look at it this way. In most of the games this postseason the Lakers best option has been Pau due to his skill and the opposing lineups. What would the situation need to be where LeBron was NOT the Cavs best option?
WTH, lebron didnt have help?!?!
they had the best record in the NBA going into the playoffs
People always making excuses for lebron
kobe’s the best in the NBA, he makes his teammates better that why they their the better team
Plenty of boys seem to be sure Kobe raped that girl. Hiding under the bed, were you?
he aut that Lebron plays in PEIT team (excuse my expression), I mean is that riders rely too much on him as well as being a great day, it can not do all the work alone. It lacks support while at the Lakers well with or without Kobe, one feels that e is a ganda team, with collective good joureurs. So I think we really can not raise a debate “Kobe-Lebron.
all I can add is that everyone has his style
must know that Lebron plays in a small team (excuse me the expression) I mean is that riders rely too much on him as well as being a great day, it can not do all the work alone. It lacks support as well in the Lakers with or without Kobe, we feel that e is a ganda team, group with good players. So I think we really can not raise a debate “Kobe-Lebron.
all I can add is that everyone has his style
The Cavs have had the BEST RECORD in the league for two years running. not the best record in the East but the best in the league. So, the idea that Kobe has the better team needs to be thrown out. What Kobe has are names with greater appeal or star power. The fact is the Cavs don’t step up when they need to. The fact is regardless if we won’t to say Kobe has this or that, he’s the better player. Stat wise obviously, Lebron trumps all but by no means does that mean he’s the better player. The bottom line is that until Kobe’s game falls off even slightly he will continue to be the bar that sets the standard (during this day and time)
Jordan had Pippen and Kobe has Gasol. The players themselves, and their skillsets, are different, but their roles in relation to their stars are not.
