The world is waiting for LeBron James to decide where he will choke in the playoffs next year, but the wild speculations as to where he will sign have already started. The Chicago Tribune cited an ‘anonymous league source’ (aka a snitch who would rather not be fired) that NBA wheeler-and-dealer William Wesley is selling the idea of a package deal with LeBron and Coach Cal.

League sources said Sunday that noted NBA power broker William Wesley continues to work back channels to sell John Calipari and James as a package deal to franchises such as the Bulls, Nets and Clippers with coaching vacancies and salary cap room.

Coach Cal has already tweeted about the subject, but he’s a scumbag with a record as clean as a Willie Nelson drug test.

Obviously, the chances of this happening anywhere are slim, and Cleveland should still be regarded as LeBron’s home for next season. A package deal in LA, New Jersey, or Chicago is not going to happen.

Donald Sterling is the kind of guy who tips less than 10% at Denny’s, who thought it would be a good idea to hire the elder Dunleavy as the Clippers’ coach. That’s a bad enough decision, but Sterling doubled down his stupidity and made Dunleavy the GM as well. Safe to say, Sterling is neither willing to throw down the dough for this deal, or smart enough to make it happen.

The Nets are a more likely destination for LeBron. Their owner, Mikhail Prokorov, has a lot of money, and loves to spend it, and playing for Jay-Z is every NBA player’s wet dream. However, Calipari has already coached the Nets and was subsequently fired. Going back to New Jersey doesn’t seem like something he’d consider.

That leaves Chicago. The move works for Calipari because of the Derrick Rose connection. But would LeBron leave his home city to play for a division rival? I say no. Playing for your hometown team has more influence than people realize. Also, the Cavs can offer 30 million dollars more than anybody else by retaining LeBron’s Larry Bird rights.

This move probably won’t happen. LeBron will most likely stay in Cleveland, who has an incredible tourism board. Coach Cal will also continue his scumbaggery in the NCAAs, preferring not to be sued over skipping out on his contract.
