The Paul Zeise Theory is about to be put into the test. Zeise was the Pittsburgh columnist who famously declared in 2007 that “Michael Vick would have been better off raping a woman” than abusing dogs, and we’re about to find out if that might actually be any shred of truth to that. While Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was not formally charged, he’s getting grilled in the court of public opinion, thanks in large part to the notes of that Milledgeville (GA) case having been released to the media.
According to the documents, one of the woman’s sorority sisters told investigators that her friend “was dragged by a bodyguard to the back room in Capital (City, a local nightclub). She was extremely intoxicated and not aware of what was happening.” –AJC, via PFT.
The media line seems to be that Ben needs to “stop putting himself into these situations.” By “these situations,” I can only presume that they mean, “the vaginas of non-consenting women.” But the no-arrest call against Roethlisberger might have been the result of Milledgeville’s Finest shooting themselves in the foot before their investigation even began.
[TMZ] was told [that] Milledgeville Police officer — Sergeant Jerry Blash [the African-American gentleman to Roethlisberger's immediate right in the image] — turned in his resignation yesterday. He had been with the force for 8 years.
In the report, investigators claim that on the night of the alleged incident, Blash admitted that after he encountered the accuser, he may have made a comment similar to “this f*cking bitch is drunk” or “this bitch is drunk off her ass accusing Ben of assaulting her…Blash informed the accuser and her friends that “Roethlisberger has a lot of money” and if the women were to follow through with a police report, they “would be wasting their time.”
Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Blash was given a lose-lose option — resign…or be fired.
More from the AJC:
During their investigation, the [Georgia Bureau of Investigation] also came across an unsubstantiated allegation that a drunken Roethlisberger had made unwanted advances on another young woman who lives in the Milledgeville area.
During a party at Roethlisberger’s house, the quarterback allegedly pulled his pants down and told the woman she could “do whatever she wants,” the GBI report states.
A week later, Roethlisberger invited her to a party where he allegedly forced his hand up the young woman’s skirt, according to the report.
Hey, remember last week when you can to my house and I showed you my penis? There’s another party tonight and you should totally come!
She was able to escape and informed her father of the incident, the report states. The father apparently encouraged his daughter not to pursue a criminal complaint.
I guess Dad was a Steelers fan.
The parallels to Roethlisberger and Vick aren’t perfect. Vick hadn’t won two Super Bowls and…this has to be said…Roethlisberger is white. Vick’s arrest was the product of a months-long federal investigation, whereas Ben’s case still resembles little more than hearsay. That said, the Steelers are on record as planning to discipline their star in concert with a decision from the league. Will the media have the backbone to vilify an alleged rapist as they did to an accused dogfighter? We shall see.

Dude – Vick was CONVICTED. Big Ben, while I think he did it, was not – if he was his career would be ruined far more than Vick’s.
Is that picture photo-shopped or was the big douchebag actually wearing a shirt with the devil on it?
Yeah, not really sure why the girl would go back to a 2nd party after the 1st incident.
Anyone have an idea of why the fuck he owns a house in Milledgeville, Georgia, anyway?
Don’t you mean, “Michael Vick would have been better off ALLEGEDLY raping a woman than ACTUALLY abusing dogs”, because… well, that’s actually a true statement. One of those things is an actual crime. The other is just a shitty circumstance for the accused, unless proven otherwise in a court of law.
Will the media have the backbone to vilify you based on my hearsay that you rape dogs? I mean, you’re white, so maybe you’ll get away with it. HARF HARF HARF. The court of public opinion can go fingerblast itself.
Look. If TheBen were convicted guilty as NOT ACTUALLY EVEN CHARGED, I’d be all for locking him up. Until, then, though, unsubstantiated allegations shouldn’t be treated as a verdict. Not for white dudes, not for black dudes, and certainly not for alleged dog-rapists like you.
That is all.
Roethlisberger and the Steelers’ first round pick to Cincy for Carson Palmer.
This deal makes way too much sense to not happen.
Ben’s IQ > IQ of his targets………that is f-ing scary
@Toidi – do you mean his on-field or off-field “targets”?
Ben went to Miami what do you expect?
There is a Miami in Ohio nevermind.
Every time I take my dick out in the middle of the club, I get my ass kicked.
yeah, let’s take the word of her sorority sister who thinks she saw something suspicious from a distance. That’s totally reliable. Sorostitutes never get anything wrong.
I love the second girl’s story. 2things – there is nothing wrong with dropping your pants at a party at your own house and telling girls to do as they please to your wang. That’s actually pretty fucking awesome.
Second – if that girl thought he was all captain assaulty, Mr. Raperpants, why does she keep going to his parties?
She was older than 13. She knew what she was getting into.
I wonder if Big Ben has a rape stand at home?
Who here hasn’t walked around a club/bar with their wang hanging out of their pants?
Exactly.
Punte, did you mean “hearsay” (evidence submitted by a non-corroborating witness) or “heresy” (blasphemous statements)? I know what the answer would be from Ape, I’m curious as to your take.
Not sure what you mean by “heresay” – is it hearsay, or heresy?
To be fair, Michael Vick’s bitches had more class than Rongrastname’s and less STD’s. Everyone loves a bitch. Whores are already dead on the inside.
Anyway, it’s kind of stupid to suspend Ben for something he was found innocent of.
He wasn’t found innocent. He simply wasn’t charged. And I don’t know how to spell.
