Former Clemson running back C.J. Spiller decided he would only run the 40-yard dash and do the bench. And he ran the hell out of it.
Spiller was timed, unofficially, as fast as 4.27 and may have locked up a top-20 grade. The fourth-year senior had 31 carries of 10+ yards in 2009 and eight receptions for 20 yards or more, while also contributing a whopping five TDs on returns. Evaluators are concerned about Spiller’s durability at 6’0/196, but he never missed a game due to injury in college. –MSNBC
They say that speed kills, but it also sells. General managers everywhere certainly sprouted boners when they saw that 4.27. Spiller’s official time of 4.37 is actually an amalgam of hand- and electronic-timing, as determined by scouts. Spiller couldn’t quite catch Chris Johnson’s 4.24 time from two years ago, but that’s still faster than I could probably get off the couch.
Watch CJ Spiller (second) and others run really fast in a straight line.

Yep, Spiller just moved onto my fantasy big board top 25 regardless of where he ends up.
They got shirts on? WASSUP WIT DAT?
Too bad they make you wear pads in the NFL and you don’t always get to run a straight line.
@Enrico: Are you sure about that? What if he’s drafted by the Raiders?
You’re looking at the next Raiders acquisition.
You beat me to the bunch Punch Rockgroin, The Raiders sleep threw all the combine drills only to wake up and ask: “Who’s the fastest?…Ok we’ll take that guy”.
“What do you mean we have no offensive line?”
So why do they not start timing when the player starts running? There are other drills they could test reaction time with.
The Raiders could use him. They need fast offensive guys to chase down defensive backs after JaMarcus gives them the ball.

as a clemson and college football fan c,j spiller is once in a lifetime player. he was better than reggie bush in college and didnt have the talent of bush. He cannot be caught in the open field and he is the fastest running back in the NFL. the only person faster is jacoby ford a receiver from clemson and he is not quite as polished. no doubt spiller will be a Hall of Famer and run more kicks back than anyone in the history of the NFL.
