With the Winter Olympics only three days away, it’s hard to argue that any member of Team USA can expect to have as good a month as skier Lindsey Vonn already has. Vonn made the cover of Sports Illustrated‘s Olympic preview, and is one of the four Olympians featured in that magazine’s swimsuit issue. I don’t know exactly how much swimming she expects to accomplish in Vancouver, but that’s none of my concern. Vonn’s already off to an impressive run this February, and her month is only expected to get better. Lindsey’s gallery at SI.com.

I liked the photos except the next website I went to (tsn.ca) carried this headline “Vonn’s Olympics in doubt”. Whoops!
She could suck start a snowblower . All I can say is I’d love to be her pivot man !!!!
LA FUNZIONE-SEGNO DELLO SKI-HABIT

La funzione-segno, nel rapporto tra evento e struttura, è, come dice Barthes, leggibile e non più soltanto transitiva: il segno si separa dalla funzione,cioè la tuta da sci non è più prettamente funzionale, non è in gara d’altronde, è ridotta a un segno, a maggior ragione se la figura che la indossa fa collimare il suo punctum ottuso del suo sciare di allora con l’arco ottuso della libido del Poeta oggi: stacca così il segno dalla funzione e penetra la tuta da sci, con il suo sci-punctum.
Come nel riding-habit, nello Ski-Kleid[o meglio: nello Skikleid-Sitzen, il “modo di stare dell’abito da sci”], o,meglio, nello Ski-Habit, essendoci quella che Barthes intende come variante di accostamento, la tuta è tirata e aderente,stretta; essendoci la variante di peso, è sottilmente spessa; essendoci la variante di morbidezza, è morbidamente lenta.
La funzione-segno della tuta da sci in tal modo non stacca più il segno dalla funzione, è funzionale al suo essere abito per lo sci che, se, frontalmente, verso il lato visibile, è qui seduta la sciatrice che si riposa e riprende fiato; dietro, fuori gara, sta seduta, è presente al Poeta, celebra il suo sedere per il visionatore di Morin.
