If it feels like Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic have been peeing into your ear through your radio dial for ten years now, it’s because they have. Their radio show, the one where they “talk” about “sports” each morning, “celebrates” it’s tenth anniversary this week, even though it was in October. But never mind. From My FOX Orlando:
ESPN Radio’s “Mike & Mike in the Morning”will celebrate the show’s 10th anniversary at the newly re-imagined ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort on Wednesday, Feb. 24 (6-10 a.m. ET). ESPN Radio’s popular morning-drive show hosted by Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic launched in January 2000. Today the show is heard (and seen on ESPN2) by more than 12 million listeners each–
Pfffft. Whatever. Hey, they’re having a great run, but don’t call it sports talk. It’s gay schtick powered by ESPN’s affiliates, and maybe every 15 minutes they’ll talk about Tony Romo. Great sports show, guys. And I meant “gay” as in actually gay. I’m sure they have a cottage up in Vermont somewhere. Vermont’s a little chilly this time of year, but that makes for better snuggling. Better anniversary here.

Up here in Albany we have 2 choices for sports talk during the morning commute. These homos and STEPEHN A. SMITH! The FOX sports station up here replaced Steve Czaban with SAS. I liked Czaban. I listen to a lot of music on my way to work.

I don’t get the complaints really. First off, define what good sports radio is. I actually consider these guys pretty restrained. I’ve never heard them shout at a guest, or give some of the dumb opinions I’ve heard on local sports talk shows. They don’t have a million sound effects, though they do that occasionally. And they’re interviews are pretty solid.
They don’t get deep into X’s and O’s or discuss coverages in football, or plate discipline in baseball. But nobody does that or wants to hear outside a few dorks like myself. Anyway, they’re not bad at all compared to most of what’s out there.
Their show is almost as bad a concept as “The Morning Meat,” which is strangely absent the last few days, hmm.
You uproxx guys are all about hating on things that you don’t personally enjoy, but get HUGE ratings. I’m not hating on you for doing it, but you shouldn’t be surprised that something that lots of other people enjoy is successful. Someday you’ll actually have some followers and other people will hate on you for that. Circle of hate.
The show sucks. The routines are stupid and the hosts purposely act like retards. I get the feeling their routine would have been popular in the 50′s. The show stives to be silly and it hits the mark. I’ve listened to the hosts when they’re not on the show and they’re great. They know their shit and they can communicate it. Unfortunately, it’s been decided that Mike and Mike go stupid–proving no one has gone broke by underestimating the American public.
BTW, there is one show worse than Mike & Mike–the Mike & Mike Show when Erik Kuselias steps in for gay Mike.
Horrible, horrible radio. “Back and better than ever”, does Greenburg rely on this pathetic crutch every hour of every show? It’s embarrassing. Someone should tell him it’s an amateur mistake. I want to rip my ears off when I hear it.
They blab about nothing with the cheesiest, fake, nasally voices and have an arrogant aura that clogs the air even on my end of the radio.
God they really, really, really suck.
By far, the worst sports talk radio show out there. Just for the sole reason that they never take callers — sports talk is all about the dynamics between caller and host. Instead, take the latest involving A-Rod, Favre, Tiger, or the Lakers, have a scripted psudodebate between Fat-Ass and the Little Hebrew, and repeat it every 30 minutes, interspersed with tons of commercials, sponsor shout-outs and ESPN promos.
Don’t think Mike Greenberg is gay. Just clueless as anyone would be who has never really played the game.
Mike&Mike is devoid of humor and insight. It’s drive off the road asleep at the wheel boring. Steven A. Smith is far better. Better yet, get XM and listen to the outstanding shows offered on Mad Dog radio.
To Chris K…. The only reason they are still on is because the ESPN machine runs them. it’s a force fed show. When is the last time you heard them take a call from an actual fan? Never. A good talk show would be Jim Rome, Dan Patrick or even Scott Van Pelt. Mike and Mike are the worst ever and all i hear is what their wives cooked for dinner last night, Greenie’s new man purse colors and how much Golic likes donuts. with the occasional sports reference. then the commercials come on and i get …. More Mike and Mike… “HEY Golic! Yeeess Greenie?” makes me want to puke. i cant listen for more than 30 seconds most days and if i switch channels i get Stephen A who only last about 4 seconds. GIVE ME MORE CHOICES!!!
I gave them 1 week once and never again all they do is drag out the same story over and over again and again. And when It is the NFL season or off season thats all they talk about is football, football, football.My god They suck kick them off The real Mike is on 660 am new york and the yes network!
