Electronic Arts has officially announced plans to revive the popular arcade game originally released by Midway in 1993. “NBA Jam” will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Wii later this year. Which is great news if you like seeing basketballs or basketball players engulfed in flames.
Featuring gameplay that is true to the original, NBA JAM will have players spinning with ankle breaking moves to the basket and on the way to high-flying, backboard-smashing dunks. In addition to the classic experience, EA SPORTS NBA JAM will also introduce new game modes, characters and gameplay depth.

I’m kinda bent that this game is only being released on Wii. It’s bad enough that I have to shower standing up…now I have to relive my childhood memories the same way? This will be the first “Jam” since Akklaim released a three-on-three version in 2003 (pictured). Six players? Who can keep track of all that?

dibs on David Robinson/Sean Elliott
between this and a SNL mention Dan Majerle’s having a pretty good week
will we get the good ol’ NBC play by play crew?
So, does this mean Schrempf & Kemp are back in the line up….I’m sure Kemp’s got some child support payments to make & will gladly lend his likeness to EA.
400 pound Larry Johnson probably still dominates.
dibs on Karl Malone and John Stockton.
I want an XBLA port. Make it happen, EA.
I never missed a three with Chris Mullin.
I also never made a dunk with Chris Mullin.
I don’t recognize that green-and-gold floor….is that game being play at the University of Oregon? It’s funny, but some event that I’ve blacked out from last year seems to affecting my memory regarding the NBA.
I almost fainted when I read this….this is why I bought a Wii years ago. Question…….IS IT THE SHOES!!!!!
The Kendall Gill, Larry Johnson duo the Charlotte Hornets had was the shit….
@Tom Harter, I KNOW ur not talkin about jordan!
Will I be able to put in the SNO code to play with The Orselor?
