WEEKEND PICKS: NEXT TIME, GADGET
12.18.09
Every Friday we pick the winners to the blah blah you know the drill by now. Come back tomorrow as we break in a new weekend writer, Amber Jones, formerly of The Gally Blog notoriety. But for now, weekend picks.
Tonight. Celtics -12 over Philadelphia. I saw Allen Iverson miss a layup on some SportsCenter highlights the other night. I tend to think if a team that has a player like that, it’s smart to bet on the other team.
Villanova -2 over Montana. It’s a semifinal showdown in Chattanooga. Other than for gambling purposes, do you care about this game? Me neither. Maybe that’s why there’s no playoff in Division I FBS.
Saturday. SAINTS -8 over Cowboys. You read that right; pro football is back on Saturdays, although this is the only game. And the Cowboys still blow in December. If only they could postpone this game until January.
Sunday. Cardinals -13 over LIONS. Detroit is actually improving, and Arizona has been very scattershot lately. Still, Arizona has to cover in this game…right? Right?
CHARGERS -7 over Bengals. This game will almost certainly decide who gets home field advantage on the way to Indianapolis for the AFC title game. I hate laying a whole touchdown to Cincinnati, but I think the Bengals’ over-dependence on Cedric Benson has finally caught up with them.
Vikings -9 over PANTHERS. Brett Favre may or may not be wearing out in his 272nd career start, but we won’t be able to notice it against Carolina.

You hear it hear first – Raiders beat the Broncos by a Janikowski field goal. Pipe dream, yes, but what if I’m right? Oh the delicious chaos in donkeyville.
