Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry has died from injuries that he suffered from falling out of the bed of a pickup truck late Wednesday evening. He was 26. Several outlets have confirmed.
As a Bengals fan that was loathe to see Henry return to the team in 2008, this is just really sad. I really thought that Henry had finally arranged his life into a manageable state coming into this season. But then he underperformed, went on IR, and now this. Just brutal. Also.

The next time you see an angry woman driving with an angry man in the back of a truck, don’t look away. You might miss something.
RIP CH15. Guaranteed first round ballot Thugz Mansion
That sucks. He was on track to turn his life around, although that doesn’t make it more or less tragic.
Extremely sad. Maybe it’s too soon, but what’s the ruling on the entire league wearing patches even though he wasn’t murdered?
This is so sad, yet another young man taken down in his prime by his love of the movie teen wolf. The curse of “Stiles” Stilinski strikes again…
I blame myself for calling ‘shotgun’.
@ DC – There have been homicide detectives assigned to the case. It may be murder yet.
Did anyone really think that The Chris Henry Story was going to end well?
Dying from falling out of a pickup truck that your fiance is driving is not gangsta whatsoever, it’s redneck.
That’s a tough year, first he’s placed on IR by the Bengals, then he’s released by the Rams.
When a guy dies because he’s having a fight with his girlfriend while he’s in the back of a speeding truck, I have a hard time believing he was going to turn his life around.
He was going to fall off the wagon; we just didn’t think he would literally fall off the wagon.
Yeah, nobody thought the Chris Henry story would end well. He makes a strong case for the Most Troubled Athlete of All Time award. This has pretty much depressed me for the rest of the day (or week).
/pours out an ounce
After listening to the 911 call at TMZ this seems like another case of Henry being Henry. Very sad, but seemingly inevitable.
+1 Stinky,
Sure it wasn’t the Broncos, Titans, or Raiders?
/Christ, how many trucks are named after football teams?
