Houston Texans kicker Kris Brown missed two field goals in the Monday night game–the latter of which would have sent the game into overtime–as the Vince Young Tries Really Hard In Games Played In Texas Postulate was proven yet again, as Young’s Tennessee Titans (4-6) beat their division rival in Houston, 20-17.
“The frustrating part for me is, we have 44 guys out there, busting their tails, and one guy out there not doing his job, which is me,” Brown said. “That’s the reason we lose the game. That’s hard. I’ve got to figure out what the heck’s going on, and I need to figure it out pretty quick.” –CBSsports.com
Vince Young wasn’t impressive statistically, but played with poise and confidence both while in the pocket and running the occasional option. Yes, an NFL quarterback was running the option. Jeff Fisher really wants Kerry Collins back under center. But Chris Johnson was the man of the hour, rushing 29 times (!) for 151 yards. For Houston (5-5), Matt Schaub threw for 305 and 2 TDs, while Steve Slaton continues his quiet rape of fantasy owners everywhere with a facepalmingly awful 21 yards on 5 carries.
This is where I’d comment on the Cro-Magnon stylings of the ESPN broadcast team, but they didn’t seem so bad last night. It helps when you miss the entire first half watching House compare Omar Epps to Steelers coach Mike Tomlin (finally!) and preparing notes for an interview that never really panned out, but even Gruden seemed more subdued than usual. Obviously the ESPN prescription benefits plan kicked in at some point last week. Ritalin’s always cheaper on the company’s dime.

To be fair, Slaton’s 4.2 ypc last night wasn’t bad and his TD reception helped his numbers, however his dropped pass late in the 4th qtr that would have been a first down was terrible. With that being said Slaton might not be a terrible play against Indy this weekend, then again it might be.
I’m still confused as to how Chris Johnson got 150 yards last night. To me, it looked like he was getting pretty much shut down… but there it is. Why can’t AP do that?
Also, I would think that after being burnt the third time around by a scrambling QB that someone probably should have accounted for that.

Does your league not count receiving stats?
Punch, runs of 36, 22, and 17 combined with 29 carries helps.
It’s nice to see Fisher found page 2 of his playbook during the Titans bye week. Johnson is averaging 161 ypg during the 4 game winning streak compared to 99 ypg during the 6 game losing streak. I think it’s safe to say that CJ is the leagues best back, not AP.
Still laughing at the fools who dogged me for not taking AP with my first draft pick, as my amazing combo of MJD and CJ keep me crushing everyone week by week….
Does your league not count receiving stats?
42 yards and a TD THIS WEEK. Whatever.
40 yards receiving, 20 yards rushing, a TD equals almost as much as 151 yards rushing in most formats. I’m not saying it was a great game, but I don’t feel raped, either.
Mrs. Parker, the fools who dogged you for not taking AP need to stop playing fantasy football if they left MJD or CJ in the 2nd round (not sure which you took first).
If it weren’t for fantasy football, would anyone have given a shit about this game?
Taco, I took MJD with my first pick, and then AP went and people started grabbing receivers and I was like…damn.
Its a 3WR, 2RB, TE one Flex league….even tho I have shit for wideouts, I picked up Cheech the other day, and with those two backs and then Smokey in my flex, its been pretty unstoppable…
Take that boys!
Some people just shouldn’t do fantasy drafts and sometimes you just need to take advantage of people who play with there hearts not there heads. For example:
I had the 8th pick in my brothers 10 team draft(ladder format), took Brady 8th, Moss 13th and actually got Welker in the 3rd round(28th). Then traded Marion Barber(my 4th round pick), Jason Witten and DeMarcus Ware to a Dallas fan during week 2 for Reggie Wayne and Ricky Williams. Then turned around and traded Ricky Williams, Davone Bess, Chris Chambers and Miami’s D to a Dolphins fan for Andre Johnson, Rashad Mendenhall and 49ers D after week 3.
So after all the maneuvering I had Brady and Favre(5th round) at QB, Ray Rice(6th round) and Mendenhall/Beanie Wells at RB and Moss, Welker, Wayne and A. Johnson at WR. I started 1-2 and am now 9-2 and have 235 more points scored than the guy in 2nd, all thanks to the dumbasses in my bro’s draft.
Sorry for being long winded guys but I’m proud of that one.
