10.05.09 NICE GUYS, FAT PEOPLE FINISH LAST
Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini is 0-4. He’s the aberration of the Parcells-Belichick pedigree, who already has alienated his players faster than a ex-stripper widow from a Charlie Sheen movie. But things were looking up in Cleveland yesterday… He managed to take the Bengals, who had been playing very well of late, to overtime. Guess how that turned out?
After Palmer and his teammates convinced their coach to gamble on fourth-and-11 with just over one minute left, Palmer scrambled for 15 yards to set up Shayne Graham’s(notes) 31-yard field goal on the final play of overtime, giving Cincinnati a 23-20 victory over the winless Cleveland Browns on Sunday. via.
This was after Cleveland blocked a field goal and an extra point earlier in the game. And then the other opposing coach HAD TO BE CONVINCED BY HIS QUARTERBACK TO PLAY FOR THE WIN IN OVERTIME. The Bengals, longtime authors of The Suck Book in the AFC North, are 3-1 and have a realistic shot at the wildcard, if not the division. Cleveland, however, seems to have nowhere to go but down. If you enjoyed watching the Lions go 0-16 last year, watching Mangini and the Browns do it will be even better.

Mangini isn’t qualified to even watch football, but he had two winning seasons in New Jersey.
On the bright side, Mangini had a killer roast beef hoagie at halftime.
I’m not defending Mangini, but he does have Braylon Edwards on his team.
Why was Cleveland given another team again?

That’s cute and all, but they do play Buffalo next week.
…
Yea, I said it. Buffalo blows.
At Buffalo has a defense. Cleveland couldn’t stop a wounded sherpa.
Why was Mangina given another job again?
@El Dub, because no one else wanted to coach in Cleveland.
I still stand firm in my assertion that he’s better than Dick Jauron’s corpse.
Don’t get me wrong, the Browns suck, but they’ll beat the Bills.
Cleveland won’t go 0-16, they get to play Det, KC and Oak. Bills will win at home this weekend, unless Trent Edwards decides to lose it for them.
You got a point there UU. I guess when you can’t win with one former Pats assistant, you have to just move on to the next former Pats assistant.
And you can chill LD. The Bills look terrible this year, but not as terrible as the Browns. The Bills will get a win next week.
There are way too many GOOD coaches waiting in the wings, Mangini would be better off coaching powder puff football.
Sorry, not trying to come off as an asshole. If they played like they did yesterday, they should handle the Bills. That’s all I’m sayin’.
No worries, LD. I just don’t think they’ll play that well again. We can mash uninformed opinions against each other when the girls show up.

Rich Kotite was not available.
You’re all missing the obvious. St. Louis will finish 0-16, if anyone does. Shut out twice in 4 games, so far, with no signs of improvement.
They play in Detroit week 8 but that’s there only hope.
