08.31.09 CHAN GAILEY’S OFFSEASON STARTS EARLY
Todd Haley has had it with Chan Gailey’s foolishness; the Kansas City Chiefs head coach fired his offensive coordinator today, two days after Matt Cassel suffered a ligament sprain in his knee scrambling out of the pocket in the first quarter of the team’s third preseason game. They’re 0-3, and I’ll mention that like it really matters.
The Chiefs said head coach Todd Haley would address Gailey’s status with the team after Monday’s practice.

There’s no indication whether or not Gailey will take another position with the team, but even if he did get Haley’s quarterback dinged up, it would be downright cold to throw a coach out on the street less than two weeks before the season started. But Haley knows he’s fighting against the current and must take drastic measures to get his team on track. These head coaches are under so much pressure these days; that’s why I tend to be sympathetic whenever these guys fire assistants, punch out assistants, or dress up as clowns to terrify schoolchildren. Not that any coaches have dressed up as clowns yet, but when they do, I’ll be waiting with open arms, ready to forgive.

The AFC West is going to be awesome this year, and by awesome I mean really really shitty.
Chargers will walk through this division. And by walk through, I mean finish 9-7, with 7 of the wins coming from Denver, Oakland and K.C.

hey now….with our crapbowl division assuming we don’t get any wins against the Chargers we could get 6 wins, win half non divisional and still get into the playoffs…
but looking at the rest of our schedule, I see optimism slipping away….

It’s the preseason, so the injury doesn’t really matter anyway. I mean, everyone tells me the preseason doesn’t matter, so that’s what I assume.
Also, it’s totally the O-coordinator’s fault the once dominant O-line now total licks nutsack and the QB has to run for his life. Way to fire that guy. I’ll enjoy watching the Chiefs fight the Broncs for last place in the shit stack known as the AFC West.
Also, I think Thigpen got a raw deal when they brought in Cassel. I’d like to see him succeed with this opportunity so he can get traded to a less shitty team. He is the backup, right?

The Chargers better damn well walk through this deplorable division. If Norv Turner finishes 8-8 again then he should be fired immediately after the final game…and flogged in the Qualcomm Stadium parking lot by every SD fan.
