05.07.09 MANNY RAMIREZ TO BE SUSPENDED 50 GAMES, TESTED POSITIVE FOR PERFORMANCE ENHANCERS

Manny Ramirez wasn’t actually being Manny, apparently. He tested positive for PEDs.
The test result and suspension is expected to be announced later today. The Dodgers informed triple-A outfielder Xavier Paul this morning that he was being promoted to Los Angeles.
Ramirez is expected to attribute the test results to medication received from a doctor for a personal medical issue, according to a source familiar with matter but not authorized to speak publicly.
The suspension will take effect starting tonight. Also suspected of taking performance enhancers–everybody.
Ramirez was not above suspicion–after all, steroid guru Jose Canseco put the probability of Ramirez using at 90%, and that he was probably on that list of a hundred-some players that tested positive for PEDs in 2003. Ramirez is also batsnit crazy, but baseball doesn’t really test for that.

There are people in LA calling for The Dodgers to fire/release him. Go ahead, New York will sign him that day, pay him next to nothing (since you’ll have to pay him to fire him) and your roster is exposed.
