05.21.09 MAGIC BUST SHOT CLOCK, CAVS IN GAME 1
Pat yourself on the back (or your pleasure region of choice) if you took the Magic +9 last night. Despite LeBron’s 49 points, the Cavaliers showed some rust after eight days off, blowing a 16-point lead and falling to the Orlando Magic in Game Uno of the Eastern Conference finals, 107-106. Dwight Howard had 30 points and 12 boards for the Magic, and noted “white” guys Hedo Turkalo (15 points, 14 assists) and Zydrunas Ilgauskas (10 points, 10 rebounds) posted impressive numbers for the Magic and Cavs, respectively. The game was also highlighted by Dwight Howard’s lackluster dismantling of a shot clock (video above) and Mo Williams’ buzzer-beating shot to end the first half (after the jump).
Oh, and if you were holding out hopes of seeing Monday Night Raw in Denver, forget it. The WWE has announced that they’ll be performing in the Staples Center in LA for their upcoming show. There’s promise of a 5-on-5 “Lakers” vs. “Nuggets” matchup, and I can only imagine how that match will turn out…Are the NHL playoffs still going on? Yeah, the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Carolina Hurricanes play Game 2 of their conference final tonight. The Penguins lead that series, 1-0.
Oh, and here’s a (yawn) first-half buzzer-beater from the Cavs’ Mo Williams. Play on, player.

To those who say that we Orlando sports fans are tepid at best in our support of our only professional team, I say American Idol was on last night, and, well, um, who won again?
Basketball is still on? Yawn, okay I will continue to act like I care.
Wasn’t Zydrunas Ilgauskas the principle in Mötley Crüe’s “Smoking in the Boy’s Room” video?
JJ Redick you complete me
Orlando vs. Denver
You heard it here first.
Punch, I could be okay with that…I love me some Birdman.
@Punch: you just made Stern’s enemies list.
I’m hoping that somehow three teams make it to the finals.
Punte, if Vinnie Mac was in charge, that would not be an issue at all. Although the Nuggets don’t matchup well with The Big Show.
@Punte: That could probably happen with the implementation of a BCS-type system. Denver’s strength of schedule should be worth something.
If Orlando advances, would they be the gayest team name in a major sports championship? I mean, other than the Cleveland Cavaliers.
@ Machine - what if you were to combine the two? The Magic Cavaliers? ecch…..Perez Hilton thinks that name is over the top gay.
