04.10.09 SHOOTOUTS RULE
Aside from the seemingly arbitrary, “skills competition-y” way that shootouts resolve tie games in hockey, they kick ass in every other conceivable way. First, we have Mike Ribeiro of the Dallas Stars, who can win the game if he scores. Obviously, since we’re posting this, you know how that turned out, but the video after the jump is even better.
Here’s Nicklaus Lindberg of the Port Huron Icehawks pulling off a sick, behind-the-back shot that most of us couldn’t hit if we were playing pool, let alone skating down a sheet of ice. Now if they could make the rest of the game like a shoot-out, maybe America could finally take notice. Or not.

Thanks Brian Schnuck, if that is your real name.
So this is how hockey games are sometimes decided? Wow. Hockey sucks. Someone should check Mr. Fancy Shot into the boards and break his jaw for him.
