Now that the relationship between Jay Cutler and new Broncos Führer Josh McDaniels appears damaged beyond repair, Cutler wants out of Denver and has officially asked for a trade. Which is what McDaniels apparently wanted to do in the first place. Good job, him. And now reports indicate that the Bears, Jets, Lions, Vikings, and Buccaneers would (or should) seem willing to take Cutler off McDaniels’ hands. How the hell did this get so out of hand so fast? Here’s Cutler’s side of the story, from The Fifth Down via ESPN:

“I went in there with every intention of solving the issue, being a Bronco, moving forward as a Bronco. We weren’t in there but about 20 minutes, [McDaniels] did most of the talking and as far as I’m concerned, he made it clear he wants his own guy. He admitted he wanted Matt Cassel because he said he has raised him up from the ground as a quarterback. He said he wasn’t sorry about it.

In otherwords, “Jay, eat my ass.” More NFL news after the jump.

ASYLUM POLL: Are the Broncos Dumping Cutler or Is It the Other Way Around?

  • The Browns might be drafting another quarterback. I must have missed the announcement that they hired Jon Gruden |FanHouse|
  • DeMaurice Smith was elected executive director of the NFLPA over the weekend, succeeding Gene Upshaw. The move seems curious as Smith came from outside of NFL circles and has no experience in labor law |ESPN|
  • Matt Jones just got his ass cut. That was a first-round pick well spent |USA Today|
