Utah Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) will be taking the lead in considering anti-trust investigations of the BCS sometime this year, expressing outrage over the current system to Deseret News:
“As I have said before, the BCS system is anti-competitive, unfair and un-American,” Hatch said. “I am looking forward to exploring what legislative remedies might be applied to fix a system that violates our nation’s antitrust laws by placing non-BCS universities at a serious competitive disadvantage.”
I think we can all agree–whether you favor a playoff or not (I don’t)– that the current system needs reform. If you’re in an FBS conference and you finish undefeated, how do you not deserve a BCS bid? A conference championship in football doesn’t mean nearly as much as it does in basketball. That needs to be fixed. And if they can’t agree on anything else in the Senate for the next two years, they might as well work on something that will bring a little more competitive balance where it’s needed.

A playoff format is required. And this guyis just pissed because the Utes went 13-0(beating 3 ranked teams) and still were only ranked 6th.
There’s 11 conference’s. Take the 7 best records out of the 11 conference champs a give them an automatic bid into the post season. Then take the reamining 4 teams make them battle for the 8th spot. Then it’s a simple 1-8 playoff tree format, winner take all. Cut the regular season from 11 games to 10 and the winner of the playoffs would still only play in 13-15 games.
Don’t like that then shut up and watch the BCS fuck it up every year becasue its the only fair way to do it.
You know, I heard a rumor that the economy wasn’t doing very well, people were losing their homes, any idiot could get a loan through ninja loans, and there was a lot of shady business going on in Wall-street. Now, I’m not a politician, but, if the economy isn’t doing to good, shouldn’t that be our fucking priority?
Really? Government fix the economy? FUCK THAT!!! It’s the removal of lending restrictions in the 90s by the government that got us into this mess to start with. Now, if they want to apply anti-trust laws to the BCS to get a playoff system…I’m all for that.
Seriously, economic stimulus didn’t work a few years ago in Japan, it didn’t work in the US in the 30s and it damn sure isn’t going to work now.
