01.19.09 SUCK-OFF: I’M GONNA HATE THIS SUPER BOWL
Did anyone NOT watch the games yesterday? Do I really have to recap these? I do? Sigh.
Cardinals 32, Eagles 25 – Credit the Cardinals for being the one team in these playoffs that has been consistently — what’s the word? — oh yeah, “fun” to watch. Most of the games in these playoffs have sucked all joy out of me and made me forget that I’m supposed to enjoy watching football. But Eagles-Cards was a helluva game. Arizona jumped out to a 24-6 halftime lead thanks to Larry Fitzgerald’s supreme badassery, then the Eagles rallied to take a 25-24 lead in the 4th quarter, then Kurt Warner engineered an 8-minute touchdown drive that broke Philly’s soul. Good luck in Tampa, Arizona. You’re gonna need it.
Steelers 23, Ravens 14 — Oh hey, here’s the joyless misery of watching the ‘09 playoffs I was talking about! The Steelers did it the usual way: defense, a big pass play, run run run run. The Ravens tried the same formula, except their running backs kinda suck and Joe Flacco played like ass.
And that’s your Suck-Off winner: Joe Flacco. Rookie or not, when you go 13-of-30 for 141 yards, 0 touchdowns and three INTs while playing for the right to go to the Super Bowl, you’re gonna win the Suck-Off. Runner-up goes to the jackass at Heinz Field who blasted CCR’s “Down on the Corner” when Willis McGahee was down on the field with a potentially life-changing head/neck injury. Everyone knows you’re supposed to go with LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR!!!!!!

Okay, I’ll say it: Flacco=Flaccid
McNabb deserves the suck off award. Or have we just grown use to him not being able to win when it counts?
Whiplash > Willis
Throws devil sign and starts headbanging.
