11.05.08 BACK WHEN ADVERTISING WAS WAY BETTER
I only ever think of Frank Gifford as a former Monday Night Football announcer and the guy who nailed a TWA stewardess while married to Kathie Lee, so I tend to forget that he was ever an NFL star. (Although to be fair, he was an NFL star before the Super Bowl existed, so it was before sports were relevant.)
And here he is endorsing Lucky Strikes, in the kind of commercial that could only exist in the 1960s. Back when doctors and athletes encouraged you to smoke. And news anchors smoked on air. Basically everyone smoked everywhere all the time. Nurseries, oxygen tents, you name it. Even pets smoked.
In short, people were idiots back then. But damn, did they look cool.

Correction: Gifford nailed the stewardess in the ass or “the sweatshop” as his ex-wife calls it.
I totally see Peyton Manning doing these…
Oh wait. No huddle.
Thanks for reminding me its smoke break time.
The 3rd best time of the day, only behind lunch time and quittin’ time.
Stewardess: Would you like some of our TWA coffee?
Giff: No, but I’ll try some of your TWA tea.
A carton of fine smokes for Christmas. And a lung biopsy for Easter! It’s everything today’s smoker needs!
L.S./M.F.T would be an awesome band name.
When does Obama’s commercial for Kools come out?
“Smoke Kools — that refreshing menthol taste soothes after beating Whitey.”
