10.07.08 MLB PLAYOFFS: RAYS, SAWKS ADVANCE
So The Tampa Bay Rays are going to their first ALCS. Joining them are their budding division rival, the Boston Red Sox. The Rays advanced after beating Chicago last night, 6-2, which is notable because it probably saved us about 90-minutes-worth of “red sock/white sock” laundry montages on TBS. B. J. Upton paced the Rays with two solo homers early in the game. The ALCS won’t start until Friday, which makes perfect sense, because why would you schedule baseball when people aren’t watching football instead?
Boston wrapped up their series with the Los Angeles California Ingelwood Always Up To No Good Angels Of Anaheim last night, 3-2. Jason Bay scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth off Jed Lowrie’s two-out single, sending the 100-win Angels packing. The Sox and Rays will face the winner of the Dodgers-Phillies series in the Fall Classic, which sadly does not feature people actually falling.
