Every year when major league rosters expand, a bunch of rookies and minor league guys get called up for what will likely be their only taste of The Show. Then the veterans make them dress like assholes.
Center Field has a collection of photos of the Red Sox rookies — pictured here are Chris Smith (who?) and Chris Carter (X-Files!) — dressed mostly in drag. Inspired by Jonathan Papelbon, no doubt.
Dressing in drag if you’re a straight guy doesn’t seem like all that big of a deal on the surface. Do it well, and people think you have a good sense of humor and are comfortable with your sexuality. Do it too well, and you feel uncomfortable when your buddies look at you a little too long. What can I say, I make a good-looking woman.

I heard A-Rod is cheating on his wife with the broad on the left.
Am I gay for wondering whether the veterans make the rookies tuck it under and tape it in place?
Chris Smith, or Madonna on the set of A League of Their Own 2?
Dee Snider looks better–what, no!
It’s those girlish hips, Ufford. The boys can’t get enough of them.
I don’t understand how veterans make these guys dress like women, then laugh at them…I mean, the veterans are the ones who demand transvestite behavior…shouldn’t they be the objects of derision???
/took the long route to calling the Red Sox fags

No one’s made a Sarah Jessica Parker joke yet? Really?
