You may remember record-breaking swimmer Stephanie Rice from the commotion that stemmed from her sexy Facebook pictures.  Now, just a week before the Olympics, news has broken that the favorite for gold in the 200 and 400 IM has split with her boyfriend, 50-meter freestyle world record holder and fellow Olympic favorite Eamon Sullivan.

All right!  Hot single lady on the loose at the Olympics!  Crazy tension on the Aussie swim team!  Awkwardness galore!  Ummm… right? 

"The Olympics is the pinnacle of both my and Eamon’s careers and we sat down before we headed into camp and decided that it would be best for both of us to be solely focused on training and our preparation for what happens in the pool,'' Rice said. "We are still great mates and are enjoying being together with the whole swim team as we gear up for the Games.”

Sullivan said he and his now ex-girlfriend were being “a bit selfish” by deciding to go their separate ways… “We both mutually agreed that being together is something that probably won’t work during this month. So we decided to have a break.”

Oh.  Well, that sounds like a pretty mature decision for people who are 19 and 21 years old.  That kinda sucks.  I was hoping for a public screaming match leading to an implosion of the Australian team.  Not 'cause I have anything against Australia.  Just woulda been good TV is all.
