LSU is headed to the College World Series, and Tiger fans are pouncing on the opportunity to support their team by, uh, reminding America how much they miss owning slaves?
On the other hand, the Civil War only killed 600,000 Americans. Why couldn't the Union and Confederacy put another 1.2 million lives on the line for the fans? How can you disagree with that? You can't argue with a Rebel cartoon tiger. Look at his hat! So cute!
No, but seriously: they hate black people.

Obama convincingly won the LA State Primary, so that's their "get out of racism free" card. Well played, Louisiana, although I would have used it for the whole Jena 6 incident.
Ireland pisses on that sign.
Yeah, because if the South had won the Civil War, then LSU would still be all white, and their sports teams would be awesome!
Fuck you, you inbred backwardass toothless critter-eatin white trash pieces of gator shit.
/Irvine grad, still pissed
where the hell is the confederate flag?
I reiterate yesterday's comment that the entire South ought to all die in a firey plane crash, well, since it didn't happen today, TOMORROW, and I'm TOTALLY SERIAL THIS TIME. DIE FUCKTARDS.
Also, who the fuck is supposed to be reading that sign? The writing is clearly visible through the opposite side of said banner.
You know what douchetards? Suceed. See how long you last.
Um, secede or succeed?
Lord Cardigan wants a 'do over'.
both?
and I thought it was the war of Northern aggression?
wow. you really have to hate black people to bring that banner out at a baseball game. a klan rally i can understand, not this though.
i'd bet my house they weren't asked to leave. racists 1, kissing lesbians 0
The South did not succeed when they tried to secede; now Southerners suck seeds and cede cerebral speed.
/the rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain
secede.
Don't miss my grammar related comment in the football post!
/Douchebag.
to be fair… they hate jews too.
So much material there. The fat white dude on the right holding said sign, the effort that clearly went into artfully drawing the Confederate Tiger? The fact that the CWS becomes a sounding board for unpopular viewpoints? Rather than trot this merde out during the annual Buckeye assrape vs SEC they choose this venue?
I hope LSU gets pumbled.
Where is the whit cone shaped hoods? Where is the burning cross? Where is the kids with no teeth screaming WHITE POWER? I am extremely disappointed! This is why the south didn't win! They only go half way with everything! If you do something go all the way, yah fucking racsist pigs.
/"I am not a racist, I hate everybody."
//George Carlin
This was a shot at the Irvine head coach for making a comment that LSU fans still didn't realize the war was over. Do a little research next time and don't take everything you read at face value. It makes you look as ignorant as Gillespie trys to make southerner's out to be.
GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!
@geaux76: It's "tries". And no apostrophe necessary in "southerners".
/too fucking easy
lets hear it for clayton biggsby!!!
I am Ross Perot, and I approve this message.
The governer of Louisiana is a dot head. Obviously LSU grads don't vote.
Don't worry, I'm putting no value in what I just read.
You know, this guy is right. I'm tired of having to do my own work and post my own WL comments…I want a colored to do it for me.
@geaux76 If what you say is true, doesnt that make the idiot holding the sign even MORE retarded? If I said that all southerners were a bunch of hicks that didnt think incest is illegal, then you came along with a big sign that said "I wish I could have sex with my donkey AND my sister" what would the viewer interpret from such a sign?
Here is the article that talks about Gillespie's quote. The sign has nothing to do with race, its simply a shot at Gillespie for insulting us.
@tony_bobbins: What you said.
If the Civil War was 2 out of 3…ah, fuck it. This is just too easy.
Gillespie said the LSU fans will be different from those UCI encountered at Nebraska.
“That was pretty electric,” Gillespie said of Saturday night’s crowd of 8,646 at Haymarket Park that witnessed UCI’s 3-2 win over the host Cornhuskers. “It was a sea of red, but they’re not a hostile group,” Gillespie said of the Nebraska faithful.
“They’re not on you, and they’re not rude and they’re not vicious and they know the Civil War is over and they know how to act,” Gillespie said, before backtracking somewhat. “Now, I don’t mean to suggest [that is the case at LSU] I really don’t.”
@geaux76 would probably have a sign that said why would i need to have sex with my sister when your's is so easy?
The sign holder looks like he donkey punches his sister nightly… after the rally and the lynching.
Honestly now, LSU does not hate jews, the 5 time national baseball champion coach and athletic director, Skip Bertman is jewish and loved by all. Secondly the sign is referring to how LSU got their mascot, the tiger. LSU's nickname is a throwback to its Confederate heritage and was drawn from the Civil War fame of two Louisiana brigades who fought so fiercely that they became known as the Louisiana Fighting Tigers. It sounds as though many of you on this board have a lot of pent up hatred and do not know how to direct it.
@defenders of this idiocy:
What they're saying is they're unhappy with the way the civil war ended.
You do the fucking math.
“That was pretty electric,” Gillespie said of the crowd at Nebraska. “It was a sea of red, but they’re not a hostile group.
“They’re not on you, and they’re not rude and they’re not vicious and they know the Civil War is over and they know how to act."
UCI's Coach Gillespie comparing the trip to Nebraska to the upcoming trip to LSU.
LSU lost game one. The South lost the Civil War. But, unlike the Civil War, LSU won the next 2. Its funny.
bold move….civil war is in black…very racialist
Atlanta's traffic situation is so bad, it probably should just be burnt down and rebuilt again
Well if the World War was a best 2 out of 3 – why can't the Civil War be?
And, by the way, our bitterness about losing the War of Northern Aggression has nothing to do with not owning dahkies anymore.
It's about the scumbag carpetbaggers that came down south and pretended to help us recover.
Geography Flame War?
wow.. hold up a second… this was not a racist sign.. read gillespie's quote it was simply making fun of his stupidity… chill out … most of the people on here have never been to louisiana anyway so relax.. racism still exist in the world today, which is unfortunate, but you have to be ignorant to think the sign was promoting racism.
Whatever, Civil War apologists.
Enjoy your swamp.
If they were really clever, they’d have used 3 out of 5 instead.
@ Defenders of the sign: Right, I am sure that all the people in the stands were handed out detailed packets explaining at length the back and forth between UCI coaching staffs.
Also, I agree with chizzle.
The sign IS a reference to Gillespie's ignorant comment. I can see how it can be seen as done in poor taste. However, you are lumping an entire group of fans together, calling them racist based on what appears to me to be 2 people's opinion. That is ignorant of you. LSU fans are some of the best in the world. You come down here and you will be given food and beer for free by any fans you come to regardless of race, religion, social class, or team allegiance. Our baseball fans have been known to feed the opposing team. Hell, we'd even feed that idiot Gillespie. Don't make assumptions when you clearly have no clue what you are talking about. Do you think that there is no fan of whatever team you support who might represent your team in a way you wouldn't approve of?
Yeah, but hot chicks go there.
Brat
if you are still bitter about something that happened 200 years ago i think you need to turn the page and get on with your life
UCI's coaches comments were public … calm down it was a joke on him. You call the south ignorant, look at yourself. Saying that we are racist and we practice incest…. thats Alabama, not Louisiana
Only this time instead of an actual war we just make it a best of three drinking competition and let the
yankeeschips fall were they may."@ Defenders of the sign: Right, I am sure that all the people in the stands were handed out detailed packets explaining at length the back and forth between UCI coaching staffs."
Why do you think the sign is facing the grandstands and not the field?
They pulled it out when it was clear LSU was going to win 2 out of 3, a couple hundred baseball fans who had read the articles laughed, then it was rolled back up.
+1000 to The Hero and I think others will agree once they get it. That's hilarious, man.
@ the LSU peeps — Keep in mind, this site isn't meant to be taken seriously (I direct you to the message in the upper right hand corner). I recommend taking your lumps and moving on.
If only it had been two out of three. Then Sherman could have marched through Louisiana like he marched through Georgia. Dumbasses.
"Keep in mind, this site isn't meant to be taken seriously (I direct you to the message in the upper right hand corner). I recommend taking your lumps and moving on."
I think the message actually says that if you take too much pride in your team, the site owner already hates you. On top of that, a lot of the comments here are pretty aggressive and I can see there are a lot of misconceptions about southerners. Opposing fans are generally treated like royalty and are offered much food and plenty of liquor. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "southern hospitality."
I think you people are the ones taking the sign too seriously. It was obviously a stab at UCI's coach, who made an ill-conceived comment hinting that we don't know the Civil War has ended. As others have pointed out, people of all races play major roles in our government and school leadership positions. Sure, we have our racists, as do all other states and countries across the world. It's just saddening to see what so many others think of our state.
I like Popeyes chicken.
They have Cajun flovors in the chicken.
Cajun = Louisiana
Louisiana = South
South = OK in my book
Popeyes chicken ends attempt to reignite civil war.
A sobering comment from a poster named Kockstand.
It's quite obvious the majority of you that have posted negatively about this sign have no idea what you're talking about. However, you continue to bash LSU, Louisiana and the south by basically judging a book by it's cover! The fact of the matter is, as mentioned several times in this thread, the coach of UCI made comments about LSU fans not knowing the civil war was over. Once he removed his foot from his mouth he tried to back peddle, but to no avail. HE was the one that brought up the civil war to begin with. These guys just took it and ran with it. The signed was aimed at Gilliespe!! The "2 outta 3" is referencing the best two out three series LSU and UCI were playing over the weekend when the sign was made/shown. If you can't comprend that then you're an idiot.
It's funny people from the south are racist but calling our governor "a dot head" isn't racist? Fucking hypocrites!
As for you Ms/Mr. whydoyouask, you need help. Seriously, bottle of sleeping pills and a bottle of wine should do the trick
No comprende "comprend"
As for you Ms/Mr. whydoyouask, you need help. Seriously, bottle of sleeping pills and a bottle of wine should do the trick
You buying? And how did you know I was a hermaphrodite??? Matt, I thought you said my identity would be kept secret!!!
Oh, and eat a dick Swampy.
@ dickhead – He is not a dot head. He is Catholic
I think if I hear that the sign was in response to the coach's comments just three or four more times, I might comprend.
"Oh, and eat a dick Swampy"
I'm sure your parents are proud. Stay classy loser….
I'm sure your parents are proud. Stay classy loser….
That hurts. My parents were murdered by inbreds from Louisiana. I just can't comprend how you could be so insensitive.
Opposing fans are generally treated like royalty and are offered much food and plenty of liquor. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "southern hospitality."
Precisely my experience when I was jumped from behind by 6 Ole Miss fans after the Wildcats (Arizona) defeated them in the Sweet Sixteen in 2001. But in there defense one of them did take the time to help me clean out my wounds with beer whilst I lay on the ground, real class acts those Die Hard SECers are.
"My parents were murdered by inbreds from Louisiana"
Awesome! If only it would've happened before you were born…
Why do you think the sign is facing the grandstands and not the field?
The signed was aimed at Gilliespe!!
Well, there's the reason UCI lost the second two games, their coach was sitting in the stands.
And yes I know I should have written "Their" instead of "There"
This whole thread is incomprensible
Awesome! If only it would've happened before you were born…
But then who would provide you with such a perfect target for your spot-on witticisms? Your sister/wife? Fellow Klansmen? I think not. No, just as Sherlock Holmes needed Professor Moriarty, so too do you need me. And with that, I bid you adieu, my toothless illiterate nemesis, until we meet again on another post desciribing your state's shallow gene pool.
/takes respectful bow
The signed was aimed at Gilliespe!!
Are you that fucking retarded?! "Aimed" as in words directed to the comment he made not the direction he was sitting!!!
No wonder Ole Miss fans jumped you…they were trying to put you out of your misery!!
There's a guy in my complex that drives a Lexus with a GEAUX plate. Yeah, I keyed that shit on a drunk night.
lsu fan taking my lumps but, i got to tell yall
the south will win the next two civil wars.
The true ignorance is that every time the Civil War is brought up, idiots like several of the posters here automatically tie it into slavery. The war itself had very little to do with slavery. In fact, many people in north had there own servants and slaves. Seems these people must miss it more than anyone in the south since they are the ones that constantly bring it up any time the war is mentioned.
Yeah, I keyed that shit on a drunk night.
WOW! It takes a speical breed of low-life to key someones car. I hope he not only finds out that it was you but pistol-whips your ass.
Why don't you both GEAUX away and find a site for politically correct butt pirates who don't like to laugh at witty sarcasm, but instead prefer to disect everything they read and take offense to 99% of it. Bitches like you two are the reason I have to listen to taped recordings offering "Press 2 for Spanish" every time I call an American company.
TP2151 = internet badass
Not a badass, just making a point.
Now, if I said something like, "Hey ccgall, the best part of you dribbled down your mother's chin!", then I would be an internet badass.
"Hey ccgall, the best part of you dribbled down your mother's chin!"
Dear lord, what grade are you in? I use to say that when I was in the 6th grade. Update your mommy jokes asswipe! Run along now the short but is here to pick you up…
i heart this thread.
Why not add a "HEY COACH:" to the banner to make oneself clear? Were all the bigger white sheets taken? (Ooh! See what I did there?)
My hi-larious Crimean War reference lost amongst the rabble…….
My God. PLEASE don't judge all of Louisiana by these morons. Yes, racist and ignorant fools like this still exist. But they do NOT represent all Southerners, Louisiana residents, and certainly not people from New Orleans.
Regardless of the back and forth between the coaches, its still a HIGHLY inappropriate sign for any public sporting event in the 21st century. Do you think a black LSU fan sitting in the stands with his family felt SLIGHTLY UNCOMFORTABLE when this sign was unfurled and a few hundred people cheered? The argument that this was never meant to have racial implications is simply moronic and plainly transparent.
From a freedom of speech perspective I have no problem with the sign, just keep it to your tailgating area with your stupid purple and gold rebel flag and out of the stands.
I'm always amazed, as a proud Southern boy myself, at how the people who claim to be so proud of the South always do the worst damage to its image. Thanks for nothing.
"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in."
Luckily we have the South for all the racists to live in other wise they would live in your backyard. O wait they do
“A NOTE TO ALL TIGER FAITHFUL”
Those of you at the game may recall that the UC Irvine fans were sitting in the same position from where that photo was taken. The sign was obviously an attempt to piss them off. It apparently worked well enough for one of them to post the photo on this blog with the suggestion that all Southerners are racists.
Wow!Good for the Aardvarks of California. Now they can feel as if they won something. Unfortunately, the all important battle of public opinion will not get them to Omaha. The residents of Baton Rouge and South Louisiana have recently elected an African American Mayor, an Indian American Governor, and an African-American Presidential Nominee for the US. That is not bad for a bunch of racists!Geaux Tigers!
Ummm… thank you LSU fans for making us West Virginians proud to stand up and say with one voice, "WE WENT WITH THE NORTH!!!! A$$-HOLES!!!!!!!!"
Classy move! Enjoy getting your butts kicked by Georgia (and just about everyone else in the SEC) this season!!
We'll be watching and laughing!
…you're being called "red-necks" by people in WEST VIRGINIA! I don't care who you are, that's funny right there!!
Blogging is such a cowardly way to communicate.
I usually don't respond to, or even read, these threads, but I took exception due to my unbridled hatred for LSU. That's right, I'm an OU alumnus. LSU's fans after the Sugar Bowl in 03 (2002 Championship) were the worst people into which I have ever run (you like that, Mavis Beacon/grammar nazi fucks? I didn't end a sentence with a preposition). Hatred aside, I just wanted to give credit where credit is due. Taco Jones, you are the unsung hero in this.
OK, fine. Noone is buying the story about the Civil War comments by the UCI coach. Fine, I see you folks are super smart, and there is no pooling the wool over your eyes.
Here is the skinny. The guys holding the banner are really "sons of the confederacy" members, an organization that consists of over half the state's population. They are secretly writing our congressman in an attempt to have him propose a bill that we start round II of the civil war some time in 2012. If we dont' get what we want, the group is threatening to throw dirty looks and some times even disparaging remarks at minorities (yes, even our Gov) on a daily basis until Congress pushes this bill through. The purpose of the criticized sign is to signal ALL "sons of the confederacy" members all over the South, that the movement is afoot. The reason the sign was used, is b/c we down south don't have phones and the internet. But you know we have TVs, especially when the alternative is reading, and you know how we Louisianians feel about that.
And there you have it. Don't buy the BS about the UCI coach's comments. This explanation is much more plausible, if not entertaining.
THE LESSON FOR TODAY BOYS AND GIRLS….
When your team gets beat by LSU just call them racists, and everything will be OK!
Geaux Tigers!
Hip-Hop-Opotamus: The rest of the SEC hates Ole Miss fans too. Some friends of mine went to a game at Ole Miss and played a touch football game against some rebel fans while tailgating. After my friend caught the winning touchdown, one of the Ole Miss guys speared him from behind. They are a bunch of douches.
As for you, Jordan, OU fans were some of the worst we had seen. Overall they were probably the cockiest group of opposing fans ever, and I guess the sting of defeat made it even worse after the game. If you did actually run into some bad LSU fans, then I'm sorry, but every fan base has them. The vast majority of LSU fans, though, are very classy and only engage in good-natured ribbing with opposing fans.
The sign in question here probably wasn't the classiest move, but neither was the statement by Gillespie that prompted it. I guarantee that nobody in the stands is upset over the way the Civil War ended.
if you are still bitter about something that happened 200 years ago i think you need to turn the page and get on with your life
thats what I say every time I hear someone tell me I should be paying reparations or that the slums are full because of the lasting effects of knowing that ancestors (that were never known by todays generation, by the way) were kept as slaves.
I find it funny that everything from rape to retards to child molestation can be made fun of on here, but that slavery makes some of you PC idiots want to kill everyone from the south. For the record, I live in the south and I dont know anyone who was a slave or owned a slave, so get the fuck over it. Thats like going to Rome today and telling someone that they are an anti-Semite because their ancestors put Jesus on a cross 2000 years ago.
and just for the record, whydoyouask, running spelling smack to try to call someone from the south stupid is pretty funny. By the way though, its "pummeled" not pumbled.
I love Louisiana. It's a great state. Friendly people, great food, great music, and willing fifteen-year-old girls.
