I'm gonna finish today with this highlight reel of some of Sean Taylor's best plays. To be fair, it's probably a little too kind about his playmaking skills early in his career — the ferocity with which he went after the ball made for a fair share of blown coverages — but by all accounts he was just blossoming into a fully realized safety with a well-rounded game this season.
After the jump, the most memorable hit of Taylor's tragically short career.
This is, of course, Bills punter Brian Moorman eating a load of Taylor's shoulder on an attempted fake punt at the Pro Bowl. As Big Daddy Drew noted, "I remember some people got mad about it. 'Hey, you can't try hard in the Pro Bowl!'" I don't think Taylor understood not trying, and that's why NFL fans — not to mention the Taylor family — have lost something special. Godspeed, Sean.

i hate to be a dick but there are a lot of helmet to helmet hits in that first video
This whole situation just flatout sucks.
I propose that the Constitution be amended, guaranteeing every American, upon their death, the creation of a video montage highlighting their life's greatest moments…with a death-metal soundtrack.
When you hit a blocker, and the ball carrier fumbles, that's hitting someone hard.
@Hugh G. Brown: Mine would be full of fantastic Madden comebacks against the computer and my all-time best masturbations. Set to Notorious B.I.G.'s 'Juicy'.
@ hardawayhatesyou:
I'm thinking that about covers it for most of us… but just for good measure, MJ's highlights and the superbowl shuffle tagged on at the end of mine… seeing as how I lived vicariously through them as well as my numerous madden franchises.
@ burnsy
you speak the truth… it really is too bad that it takes shitty situations like this just for me to realize how nobody's invincible and that I should, as tim mcgraw put it, 'live like i was dying'
There are some guys out there in the league that do hit hard but that number you can probably count on 1 hand. I remember seeing videos of guys in the 50's and 60's that when a ball carrier ran out of bounds they didn't move. Instead one of them lowered his shoulder and knocked the guy on his ass. Imagine how many guys would tiptoe out of bounds if the players on the sidelines we allowed to hit them when they ran out on the other teams sideline. Shit just stand still, plant your feet, and lower your shoulder, guaranteed the guy wouldn't expect it.
And yes the league and moreso the Taylor family has lost something special.
Am I the only one that's glad he's dead? Who the fuck is Ted Turner anyways?
Oh, Sean Taylor, yes, that's really a shame, I hope his family and especially his girlfriend and little daughter are in everyone's hearts and minds.
sorry bout the last part of my last post <pulls junk from between legs>
Play on, playa.
yeah
I coulda swore pegasi were going to fly out of Moorman's body after that hit.
@ Hugh B, HHY:
That's my one hope for wherever I go when I die — I'd hope somebody has my whole life on a tape or DVD that I could watch. That would be so fucking awesome.
As far as music to play the video to, I'm going to need some street cred in the afterlife, so I'd go with 'Bring da Ruckus' by the Wutang.
+1 Pauly
Guys, I hate to break it to you, but you know when people who come back from near death say they saw the light and their life flashed before their eyes? Yea, well, I'm just saying your wish may come true someday.
/in all seriousness…..
When I die, I want a video tribute of me on YouTube.
It will be porn.
Watch Defending Your Life with Albert Brooks, Meryl Streep and Rip Torn. It won't be that great.
That's the problem with that, the, the, thug life. All that killification.
RIP my brotha from another motha.
I'll miss seeing you on jacked up.
@Tim
especially when said blocker is Lorenzo Neal, the best there is.
I love Defending Your Life!
Dan Snyder just released Sean Taylor… That's what he gets for milking an injury.
" This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by The National Football League."
God, I fucking hate these people sometimes. They probably think they can release a "Best of Sean Taylor" DVD and rake in more profits.
These are tribute videos to a dead man from fans. And they decide to call YouTube and put copyright claims on them? Seriously, kill yourselves.
"The Pro Bowl is an exhibition!!! You don't hit hard!"
Then don't run a fake punt, you fuckin' pansies.
+ 1 Brudlee
You think maybe the NFL could give the Sean Taylor videos a couple of days before taking them down. Fucking assholes.
Here's a good video that's still up (as of Wed. morning):
