The cheerleading world is shaken today by news that Wichita State, the 2006 National Cheer champions, have been disqualified due to an ineligible participant.

The university tells us, WSU brought the situation to the attention of the [National Cheerleaders Association] – which launched an investigation and determined that a non-student participated in both the preliminary qualifying performance and the final championship. 

The person in question had applied to the university just days before the competition but had not been admitted nor enrolled as a student. The university says it's looking into how that person was allowed to travel with and participate on the team.

To which I say, predictably: Shocker.
