Well, chalk that up under "headlines I didn't expect to write today." PGA golfer Arjun Atwal is under police investigation for his involvement in a Fast and the Furious-style street race that led to the death of his alleged competitor, John Noah Park. Shockingly, the PGAtour.com article reporting it is weighted heavily against us rushing to judgment about one of its golfers doing something illegal. However, it does have this quote from Highway Patrol Trooper Kim Miller:
"Witnesses tell us they were engaged in a street race," Miller said. "They estimated speeds at or about 100 mph. Park's vehicle hit a tree and basically just shattered. Part of the axle was found in the tree. It was a very violent crash."
If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times: someone must stop the lawless mayhem rampant in the PGA Tour… their sexy wives, their lives of privilege on the nicest resorts the world has to offer, their fast cars and thirst for danger: it's a sport teetering on the precipice of calamity. Clearly the adrenaline-seekers that get mixed up in that wildly exciting and dangerous sport have finally gone too far. It's time the PGA Tour got reigned in.
Next issue: are our nation's bowling alleys too dangerous?

led to the death of his alleged competitor, John Noah Park
At first read was anyone else hoping they saw that as Joakim Noah?
PS I didn’t know ricksaw’s could get to 100 MPH. Hoo boy that’s racist!
“a sport teetering on the precipice of calamity”… Mr. Ufford, your verbal stylings never cease to amaze. Reading your blog is simultaneously making me smarter AND sexier. Many thanks.
I wonder if he was racing this thing: [www.luxurycarts.com]
