12.06.06 HOLLIS THOMAS STAYS ALIVE BY CHEATING
The Saints have lost a crucial part of their defense for the remainder of the regular season, as defensive tackle Hollis Thomas has been suspended for violating the league's substance abuse policy. His drug of choice? Asthma medication.
Thomas has been challenging the positive steroid test and had the support of the Saints. Thomas is a 335-pound defensive tackle who has struggled to keep his weight down and doesn't have the body that normally would be linked to steroids.
During his appeal, John Amoss, who is the Saints' team doctor and an assistant professor at the LSU Health Science Center, sent a letter to the league in support of Thomas. Amoss said Thomas has severe asthma problems and requires a high dose of inhaled steroids to breathe.
Steroids to breathe? Pffft. Now I've heard everything.
Listen up: rules are rules, and it's about time the NFL put its foot down on players artificially enhancing their lung power. Even if it, y'know… keeps them alive.

fat bastard shouldnt have been born with that problem or he wouldnt be suspended, its his own fault….moving on…merrimen, you’re good to go
I think I’m on the same stuff. I was just prescribed Fluticasone Propionate nasal spray. It’s a corticosteroid. I’m 6′4″ and 180 lbs. Yup, I’m on steroids.
